Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Goodbye February, and hello March! As I write this, it is the last day of February. Last week was a week of rain and thunderstorms. Forecast this week is much better with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures. The daffodils are in bloom, and birds are back at the feeder. Don’t you just the love the sweet smell of spring in the air? Spring begins March 20, and I am so ready for it.
Being stuck inside because of the rain last week, I decided to make a sweet treat for myself. I made Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies. This recipe was given to me over 40 years ago from a dear friend that I worked with when living in Pekin, Ill. I think they are so good, and, of course, the recipe makes more than I need to eat, so I shared my cookies with Bonice Martin and Erma Lee Morris.
Happy birthday to those celebrating March birthdays including Wayne Patterson (March 6), Bill Morrison (March 7) and Dennis Clayton (March 24). Here is wishing your special day is filled with many blessings. I still do not have a complete list of birthdays, so those of you that would like your special day mentioned in our news, please call me so I can add you to my list (989-3315).
