Greetings from Hickory Corner! My son, Terry, spent the past week with me. I am always happy to have my kids visit. He was busy as a bee while here. I am definitely ready for spring now, as my deck and outdoor furniture is all power washed. Now, if I could just have some company over! I will not complain though because I am simply thankful to be well. I will do my part and stay apart. We have had beautiful weather, so I have been able to walk or just sit and soak up the sun.
Do not forget to call and check in with your family, friends and neighbors. There are many that are not getting out at all and a phone call can brighten their day. I spoke to many this past week in our community by phone: Walt and Ann Bennett, Ann Morrison, JoAnn Clayton, Linda Byrd and Bonice Martin. Bonice said that Erma Lee is doing okay. I also spoke with my sister, Darlene Reese, in Arkansas. She and her family are fine, and she is working from home right now. I received a phone call from Joe Holmes and his family is fine. Thanks Joe for checking in on me. We are all in this together!
Jean Mayfield called to express sympathy to the family of Elvie Lee Sanders. Jean shared her fond memories of she and Elvie Lee, who were good friends growing up. They both attended Hickory Corner school, and Jean has memories of them walking to school on those muddy roads. Jean recalls Mr. Isaiah Weaver owned a grocery store at Hickory Corner and about the time he got busy working in his garden, the school kids came running with a nickel for candy, and he would have to stop and take care of them. Those were happy days back then when life was simple. Thank you, Jean, for your memories.
Those celebrating an April birthday include Patsy Clayton (6th), Ronald Clark (7th), William Luttrell (23rd) and Tonya Clayton (30th). Wishing all of you a birthday filled with many blessings. Want your birthday shared? Please call me.
Remember in prayer those on our prayer list: Arlan Porter, Walt and Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ronnie and Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Mary Alice and Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Jim Ruth, W.T Roland, Peggy Lard, William Maness, Buck Burkhead and all the caregivers. Also continue to pray for leaders of all nations, first responders, healthcare providers and all those who are sick.
Sending special gratitude and blessings to all the frontline healthcare workers and employees at pharmacies, grocery stores, gas stations and other essential businesses. These people are risking their health in order to take care of others. Hearts to all of you!
