Continued prayers for Sheila Cox in Nashville, Johnny Hayes at nursing home, hoping the flu bug will stay away from him and Melbern Jones, who came home Friday. Families very appreciative of prayers, cards and visits.

Elam Murphy shares Murdell Barker’s birthday, Feb. 19, but not the year.
Murdell Barker’s “home away from home” gave a surprise birthday party. Family who were not sick attended. Later there will be a dinner with family. She is so thankful for cards (about 80) received. Several local and government offices sent congratulations. More about that after her next dinner party. Patience – expecting to hear from others, so wish to include them.

I gave DJ 34 war books for Valentine’s Day. After we read them they will be donated to the Tennessee Room at the library. I have hidden a large tin of V-Day candy. I am being a Petunia, aren’t I? Hope your Valentine’s Day was special. We took down Love Bear.
2019 NFL announced Michael Vick would be one of four “legend captains” at 2020 Pro Bowl on Jan. 26. A book, The Lost Dogs – Michael Vicks Dogs and Their Tales of Rescue and Redemption” by Jim Gorant would question this honor. Here is an excerpt from the book – “And then there was one last body that stood out from the rest. It had signs of bruising on all four ankles and all along its side. Brownie had said that all the dogs that didn’t die from being hanged were drowned, except one. As that dog lay on the ground fighting for air, Quanis Phillips grabbed its front legs and Michael Vick grabbed its hind legs. They swung the dog over their head like a jump rope then slammed it to the ground. The first impact didn’t kill it. So [they] slammed it again. The two men kept at it, alternating back and forth, pounding the creature against the ground, until at last, the little red dog was dead.” Animal abuse is so frightening to me. Some of our little children and our precious elderly are suffering these fates, too. Why would you honor an abuser? Vick was into dog fighting, killing dogs and pets in horrible ways. A swimming pool was used for bad purposes and taking money bets. Why would anyone not be a voice? Show love to God’s animals, children and elderly. Google this to read more about the man who had a million against him. NFL Commissioner voted to keep Vick on the list.
Donald Stratton, age 19 in 1941 died in his sleep Feb. 15. He saved six lives from USS Arizona – only Louis Conter (CA) and Kenneth Potts (Utah) survive. Time marches by; soon no more stories to share by these great men nearing age 98. God bless.
