“Mourning is one of the deepest expressions of love.” – unknown
Our community expresses sympathy to the families of Jerrel Wayne Flatt, Sr. (4-18-38 to 4-9-22) private service – Memory Gardens; and Bessie Bee Davis Cupples (3-20-22 to 4-10-22) – Pleasant Springs.
Ten Prayer requests – (1) Larry Lambert (graduated with his wife Anita Picket) – a couple who makes stew for their community to gather; (2) Dr. Ronald Johnson; (3) Roy Sharp; (4) Jack and Tera O’Neal are living at North Brooke since selling their estate – Harold and Frankie Finley visited them last week and encouraged visitations from pals – Don and I plan to visit this week to “mind” Harold; (5) Karon Connor Reinmann; (6) Charlotte and Pat Evans (7) Cousin Andy Maness needs your prayers on April 25 at 8 a.m.; (8) Cousin Billy Lynn Maness needs your prayers on April 18; (9) Cousin Willadean Maness Thrasher and (10) Ron, Bobbi’s Grooming, is recovering nicely. He is Sammie’s groomer who ties the most gorgeous bows. All the girl poodles admire his looks! Bless all of you
Tenderly remember Vickie Ellis’s uncle and my cousin, Marvin Maness, and friend, Sue McEarl; they died the same day (4-14-03).
Tidbits: Civil War begins 4-12-1861; Battle of Shiloh began and ended April 6-7, 1862.
Chester County Class of 1957 will party on May 21. Dorothy Maness Miller is working hard to contact you. Talk with your classmates to see if they are coming. I plan to make a group photo, so wear bright colors and lipstick! Ha
Mary Wadley called to announce the time of Easter Sunrise Service. It will be held at Unity at 6 a.m. Brother Huggins will speak from the porch. Line cars up to listen to him or use your radio. Pastry and juice or coffee served afterward. The sunrise will appear at 6:19 a.m.
Easter (4-17-22) is a holiday commemorating the “resurrection of Jesus” from the dead. He rose on the third day after his crucifixion. Good Friday (4-15-22) quote may have come from the “Good Book” (Bible). Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary. Passion, suffering and death on the cross of Jesus Christ — victory over death and sin.
Deep appreciation to Gloria Holiday’s news last week. It is very important to show a caring attitude to others. We all enjoy the love shown. “Showing you care award” goes to Sharon Boothe. She finds so much pleasure in sending cards, leaving surprises at door or on car windshield or honking a long honk at your home. Sharon wants us to know she was thinking about us. It brings warmth to the receiver. Shame on me for not being more thoughtful. Cookies or soup are healing, right?
THANK YOU to all who contributed to the “Decluttering for the Dogs” community sale and pre-sale stew. Will share the amount when shared or when it is posted on Facebook and someone calls. Not everyone does Facebook, so news has to be shared. I can always count on Regina Brooks to share Facebook news. I hope all communities are doing their part to help.
I have heard it said many times – “Chester County is NOT going to be in the ‘dog business.’” That is a joke! Chester County IS already in the dog business. Carol Preuss takes many unwanted puppies and momma dogs that irresponsible people no longer want. Those kind of people are not educated (some have dark side and practice animal cruelty). They are not spaying and neutering. Even young folks know “operations” stop unwanted puppies (kittens, too) that grow up and become mommas twice or more a year! Why can we not have an animal census to see how many dogs/cats live here and require “operations”? We can buy from rescues! Inquiring minds want to know… just how to make friends and influence people is the question!
Anyone who desires to help LOVING PAWS RESCUE can send a check to LPR 2035 Brown Cemetery Road Luray, TN 38352. These fundraisers are 16 years late, but oh how blessed a team heard Carol’s cry for help on Facebook. Try to imagine a county without animal control help. Anyone voting has the right to ask all politicians what their suggestion will be this year on the important question – “How is Chester County going to help on animal control?”
Carol Preuss cannot continue to function without money and support. Fundraisers need to continue, AND she needs a place for overflow of dogs that she can not bring in to her rescue. Carol will be willing to help. Ask Carol for advice, Mr. or Mrs. Politician. See how a responsible animal lover can help Chester County control “dogs” on a new piece of property. Put money where your mouth is was a quote often used growing up, but that is still a wise true quote. All the money Chester County received for these NEW projects commissioners (residents, too) are requesting leaves me thinking – does that not leave our other money in accounts to do other local projects such as proving land for the overflow of dog? Inquiring minds!
LOVING PAWS RESCUE is responsible for another dog finding a forever home in Massachusetts. Carol is carrying “Billy Jack” (Jackie’s only son) to transport Thursday. Carol is sending the new adopted family a bag containing a letter of Billy Jack’s history and photos of his five siblings, his mother and the group of daddies. It will be fun to find newly born Billy Jack and try to pick out his daddy. When you have the chance listen to the song by Alabama, “Angels Among Us.”
Once news was shared by Saturday night visitations and that was followed by ole crank telephone; “Ma Bell” telephone company became the major company for seven party lines of news (fun to ease-drop); single party lines broke up that fun; computers brought emails; then Facebook brought current news, but young folks use TikTok! What happened to us? Progress? I would love to go back to those precious Saturday night visitations. Do you remember sharing popcorn and watching Gun Smoke with family and neighbors? That was called easy living after a hard day of work! WORK? “What is that?” some ask.
Happy B-Day to those who share April 16 with my beloved mother, Bobbie Faye Fletcher Nobles – Randall McEarl; Sammy Lott; Richard Wadley; Ronnie Burkhead; Lisa Brasfield; Earl Tignor; Hattie Stanfill; and Wayman Holmes. Other birthdays continue – Dwight Jones still celebrating April 7 at age 71 and Kathy Tignor Belew is going to blow 71 candles out on April 21. The best birthday will be Sheila Ryals, Brenda Reddin or Estelle Jones. One is turning 99 on April 18. Sharon Boothe’s influence might influence sending a few cards or making phone calls at least. Thanks, Sharon.
Thank you, God, for all the many blessings I have. I love you!
