“The ocean brought me peace. The wind gave me energy. The sun warmed my spirit. The flowers showed me life, but YOU made me feel love.” – Susan Schutz
Our community expresses sympathy to two families with peace, energy, warmed spirit and love. Daniel William Jones “Danny” (2-24-52 to 2-7-23). In high school we called Danny “Goose.” He was a fast gliding walker with long legs, but his neck was stretched to greet and see all friends as he raced within the five minutes to the next class. To me, Danny was like a swan on a lake, or should I say goose on a lake? Will miss my friend. God bless Debbie.
Danny and I worked at Chester County Junior High. We often raced into the building to sign in first. It was a game, but those long legs won each time. We both collected Elvis plates. We had many complete series and talked about the beauty of the artist work. It was fun to see Danny impersonate Elvis, but Danny never left the building! I am sad he has left us. His wife and girls need him. When he got sick, he came to me and told me he enjoyed working with me. He thought kids needed “fun surprises” in the classroom. He liked reading my Jacks Creek news, but I told him not to believe everything I wrote. He laughed so hard – that is a great memory. We had visited his mother, Mary, at the nursing home. She complimented him and expressed trying to help provide for her children by selling Avon. His daddy, William, supported Danny in his sports world. They made a great team. His sister, Debbie Hunt, was sweet, too. They all had smiles on their faces to help others have a good start each morning. A smile speaks wisely.
Also, our community expresses sympathy to the family of Paul Richard Noles (1-12-37 to2-11-23). He was a good man and kind to all. He was proud of his sons, Paul and Joe. Joe lives in Smith Historical home. Richard was respected by his church family. Charlotte Joyner and Ruth Webb bragged on his fine Christian path.
Unity Church pastor and deacons and wives gave a nice Valentine Party for widows and widowers. The guests were Jane Morris; Jean Tignor; Nancy Connor; Sylvia Grissom; Gene Milam; Sherrill Pickett, Marilyn Murphy, Anita Ross; Robert Davis; Lance Bailey and Barbara Rhodes. I can taste the good menu now prepared by Jimmy (Brenda) Reddin; Norris (Sheila) Frank; Danny (Janice) Goodwin; Tommy (Lisa) Davis; James (Cathy) Huggins and guest Elzie; Bob (Mary) Wadley; Tracey and Thomas (Emily) Harris; and Gleaman (Jane) Rhodes. I bet the cooks used the new Unity Cookbook. That book is filled with yummy dishes. I received one as a special Christmas gift by one of the guests above who loves me and knows I do cook often! Hope you are not too late to purchase a copy of this great cookbook. The delicious vittles were not passed around with a pool cue, but the choices were plentiful and much excitement was shared. The din-din menu was Baked Chicken; Green beans; Hash Brown Potato Casserole; Blueberry Gelatin Salad; Cherry Gelatin Salad; Chocolate pie, Coconut pie, Lisa’s Layered Pie, and Coconut cake! Then, the lucky guests played bingo to win prizes. Isn’t it great to do such sweet kindnesses? Let us continue to do kindness to make our world better. I wrote that request in one of my previous JC News. I thought if we did just one act each day that is 365 acts in a year or 52 acts of kindness means we did something special in a week.
Since I wrote that suggestion, here are some acts of kindness done for me alone. Emily and daughter returned my Dollar Tree cart to the store. An older gentleman reached a scarf for me on a high shelf, so I selected two to make it worth his stretch. Sammy at Cash Savers selected just the right piece of meat for a special meal; Chris is planning on selecting and cutting my ham for a special meal soon; Francisco took my groceries to the car and returned to the store to get a bag of my forgotten item I was craving. Lord Byron offers to help me get any item off any shelf. He was one of my “pets” in school – he was so extra kind and sweet each day. A male Lowes driver stopped in the path to allow me to walk to my car in raining weather. He stopped the traffic until I was safe. A woman at Lowes offered me her handicap electric shopping cart. A small child smiled at me from the safety of his mother’s shopping cart, but oh what a precious smile and his eyes followed me until I blew him a kiss. Jackie at Wal-Mart put my shopping items into a storage box instead of plastic bags and got help to put them into my car. Trees and Trends employee retrieved my car from the parking lot and brought it to the front door and loaded my items. Snappy Pizza automatically sees me and bakes my veggie pizza without asking. If too many people eat veggie – then another veggie is made for me. “When someone cares it is easier to speak, it is easier to listen, it is easier to play, it is easier to work and when someone cares it is easier to laugh.” – Susan Polis Schutz (Did you see the heart-shared lights in our front window)? That is LOVE to all.
Continue to think of those going through a special holiday without their loved one. Call or text would lift them. Thinking of my friends, Brenda Hannah, Brenda Johnson, Kathy Pounds, Vicki (Billy) Dickson; Sharon Boothe and Delores Perkins. Also, thinking of Clarence Harris; Dorothy Brown; Eddie and Faye Lott Plunkett; Charles Malone; Joe Climer; Regina East; Pauline Smith; Kenneth Clement; Judy Ruth; Tommy Tignor; Ossie Beshires; Tera O’Neal; Linda Thompson; Sue Wright; Rebecca Vineyard; Mary Bolen; S and S Ryals; Shirley Nelson; and Gerlene Thompson.
So much tragedy in Turkey and Syria – death tops over 35,000; more than 8,000 pulled from debris; and 80,000 hospitalized.
QUESTION – Would you rather lose all of your teeth or all of your hair??? Call to share, so I can list a ratio while I have my mind!
