Montezuma would like to welcome a new family to our community. Jeremy and Mandie Sanford moved to Montezuma recently with their three boys, Braylon, Ayden and Jackson. Hope you as well as many others find this to be a great home for you and your family. Call on any of your neighbors if you need help. We have a great community, and we work hard to keep it that way. WELCOME!
Monday was a sad day for Montezuma in losing yet another good community person, Ms. Betty Morris. She was a great servant for many years until her health started slipping away slowly. She and Mr. Ed served at First United Methodist Church, and they supported our Community with good deeds and great friendships. Her loss will be felt by many, and I do ask that each of you keep Mr. Ed and their three children all in your prayers as she will be laid to rest on Saturday, Feb. 19. Rest in peace, Mrs. Betty.
There are things for our upcoming election that are being handled differently than before for the Republican party. The Republican Primary Election will be held in May, and I did not have a good understanding of what this change meant for the voters, but I was able to talk with Kathy Vest (731-989-4039) to get a much better understanding of what is taking place. I strongly encourage anyone that has questions regarding this matter to reach out to her. Ms. Kathy will be happy to speak with anyone and explain these changes and what effect the outcome of this election can impact on our entire community.
Cookies for Cancer will be hosting a Meet the Candidates Fish Fry at the Montezuma Community Center from noon-4 p.m. or until sold out on Saturday, March 19.
Montezuma sends out happy birthday wishes to Kristy Hathcock and Alice Cook on Feb. 17 (being something I have in common with these two), Anthony Cooper and Judy Greenslade on Feb. 19, Celeste Parker on Feb. 22, Allen Cook and Peggy Lard on Feb. 23 and Imalee Montgomery on Feb. 24.
With so much unrest in our country, I pray that each of you believers will be praying continually for our government and salvation for the lost. Please pray for the people dealing with COVID, Nancy Crouse, Kolby Cunningham, Frank and Imogene Naylor, Martha Cooper, Jake Richardson, Ashley Pugh, Billy Austin, Faye Morrison, Joyce Beecham, Doug Thomas, Tavish and Lachlan Cox, Ann Morrison, Jessie Pugh, Faye Crouse, Ed and Betty Morris, Healthcare Workers and Law Enforcement. We especially want to remember the families of Tammy Smith, Junior Moore, David Earl Moore and other families that have recently lost loved ones.
Please call Betty Cooper at 879-9078 to book the use of the community center.
Wishing a very blessed week to all you readers!
