“Gone, but not forgotten”
Jacks Creek community expresses sympathy to four families lost at the close of the 2022 year and the one lone dove lost at the beginning of 2023. These four people were born in the 50s and died a week apart. God said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
Vicki Williams Phillips (9-30-1955 to 12-26-2022) – Big Springs; Linda Ruth Holmes Webb (9-28-1952 to 12-30-2022) is a relative to my grandmother, Beulah Holmes Nobles – Shiloh; Johnny Ray Maness (9-25-1950 to 12-31-2022) a relative to my grandmother, Ann Maness F.B. Dunn – Cave Springs; and Linda Gayle Ross (9-14-1950 to 1-2-2023) – pending.
On Thursday, Dec. 29, over 20 family and friends attended graveside service for Bobby Wayne Harvey (7-20-42/12-22-22) at Unity. A rainy day with happy tears coming from angels’ eyes above helped us cope with the loss of a dear man and friend.
Just wondering, would you prefer to go to the mountains in Mrs. Autumn to see harvest colors or would you prefer Mr. Winter chancing getting caught in a cozy cabin for several weeks surrounded by pure white snow? Survey will start near Glendale toward Mifflin back to Jacks Creek.
Prayer requested for Christopher Brown; Jada King on Jan. 9; Peggy Vestal King; and Johnny Hayes. Tenderly remembering popular Jacks Creek Principal, LaTasha Wright Phillips (1-5-2017) and Robert Waller (1-10-2017). Also, Howard Mount died the day after his daughter’s birthday (writer, Vickie Ellis); Doris Sells turns 84 in heaven (1-4-1939); Clyde Tull turns 85 in heaven (1-8-1938); Elvis turns 88 in heaven (1-8-35); and Raford Nobles turns 97 in heaven (1-8-1926) – lot of happy shaking.
2017 weather – Jan. 6 – 2-inch snow; Jan. 31 – sunny 70s; Feb. 28 – 74 degrees; March 1 – North Jackson tornadoes; March 27 – Decaturville had hail; May 27 – 3 inches of rain; Sept. 7 – 6.5 inches of rain; Irma hits Florida in September; Nov. 19 – 26 degrees; all kinds of weather, and we survived in shorts, denim and flannel.
Three New Year Babies in Jacks Creek are James Crowe (gone to heaven to celebrate his 1953 birth); Ralph Mays turned 90, but does not look or act it; and a brown-eyed girl who celebrated with two boxes of surprise candy as she turned 72! Also, Happy B-Day, Vickie Mount Ellis (Jan. 2, 1954) “I know God is holding you in the palm of His hand, and no matter how old you are today, He’ll always know you as His child.” You have got a bright yellow surprise.
PET ABUSE – (1) Morgan County, a twenty-four-year-old man (boy) stuffed six puppies into a tote. He tossed it off a bridge into a cold icy river – only one of six puppies lived. That citizen is being charged with animal cruelty, and if the laws there are right, he will spend time in jail and be fined; and (2) in Richmond, Va., – animal care rescued a dog on Dec. 22 in a doghouse filled with frozen over water. On Dec. 25 nine puppies were born – cruelty to animals is NOT right. Poor mother dog trying to not give birth because she knew she could not save them in the cold dog jail. Please treat your pet, child and elderly loved ones right. God is watching you. No unsolved mysteries with Him.
It is never too late to leave the past behind and get excited about the future. The New Year is the perfect time for a fresh start. Put things into the past. Before harvesting fruits — there is weeding needed. Ask a Master Gardner! When you play with fire, sparks fly! Dealing with life or people requires inner confidence, calmness and a sense of humor. Attention to another negative human being makes us all realize we need to spread compassion or quietness – sometimes we have to wait out the storm safely. Use wisdom not anger. Prayer gives inner strength.
We live in the greatest nation ever created. I choose to live and die here on our soil. I thank God for all blessings. He made no mistakes. Do His will and enjoy the blessed ride. Let our 360 remaining days in 2023 count as a positive for us.
“We turn not older with years, but newer every day.” —- Emily Dickinson
