It is time for people to wake up and realize God intended for us to be peaceful. If you read or know the Bible at all, there were battles throughout Biblical times, and sometime after when the people did not repent, there would be great punishment to follow. We seem to be seeing harder times each day, and it is a time for repentance. We have a forgiving Savior at our disposal. People need to look back to God for the right answers and His forgiveness to get our world turned around.
Mark your calendars now for 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 6. The Community Center will be hosting a Family Fun day for our members and local community. We will have jumpers for the kids, games, a corn hole tournament organized by Ben Brown and some food items available. Come out and enjoy some time together with your community.
We finally had a full weekend of being able to be outside even though it was cool and windy. Our yard was actually dry enough to get a mowing in.
This weekend starts decoration at many of our local cemeteries. You will notice lots of new flowers going on the plots as you drive by. This is a time of reflection for families to remember their loved ones they have lost.
We ask those renting our facility to please follow our rules and show respect for the building. We try to keep it in the best order possible, and it takes everyone cooperating to make that happen. Our community center needs the ceiling scraped down, a few repairs of spots and a new finish and paint job on it. If there are any of you that are skilled in sheetrock finishing or painting that would be willing to donate some time to work on this matter, please contact Ann Moore or myself. We have some people that might be willing to help, but no one in particular that is skilled at this.
If you care about this community, please get involved in what is taking place to continue to grow our county and make it a better place to live and raise a family. Every voice can count when you need to be heard. Get to know what is changing in our local government, schools, churches and communities through the news, friends, your church, teachers, etc., and if it matters to you, there are ways to help make things better. Hope to see some of you there. It will be fun!
We need more community involvement for our center and would like to invite people to join in. Annual renewal dues are $25 after your first initial year of joining. We also take donations. Payments can be mailed to Edith Sills at 4475 Sunshine Rd, Henderson, TN 38340. We appreciate all our members and would like to have more events if we can get enough help to do so. Call Ann Moore at 608-2033 or myself if you have any new ideas for the center or wish to get involved. People who want to rent the community center should contact Betty Cooper at 879-9078 for booking.
Montezuma sends out happy birthday wishes to Alex Plunk Burns on May 6, Becca Cooper and Dustin Stout on May 9.
Please be in prayer for all local and federal elected officials, law enforcement, first responders, healthcare workers, teachers, administrators and churches as decisions are made and with all the upside down happenings in our world around us. There is much spiritual warfare with society accepting things that go against who God is and what HIS laws are that we are to follow. Every day of life has its challenges, but if we look to God for the right path, it can be a good one. Please pray for those suffering from seasonal illnesses, tornado victims, the families of shooting victims all across the US, William Watkins, Patsy Clayton, Charlie Harris, Misty Paul, Clint Murley, Janeane Moore, Sherry Fletcher, Chuck Beacham, Sandra Lott, Johnny Warren Garner, Faye Crouse, Janice Morris, Lisa Bishop, Jeanette Walker, Paul Schilling, Jennifer Paton, Nancy Crouse, Martha Cooper, Jake Richardson, Ann Morrison and others that are sick or healing. We especially want to remember the family of Betty Malone, Dianne Beshiers, Ralph Paul Smith, Gordon Russell, Sr. and other families that have recently lost loved ones.
I am always looking for noteworthy news to share in this column. Please send to gaylescox1977 @ gmail.com or text me at 608-2857.
As always, until next time and wishing a very blessed week to all you readers!
