I do apologize for not getting an article in last week, but I was out of town for the funeral of my brother-in-law in Kansas City, Mo. My heart goes out to those that have been and will be affected by the Coronovirus. I do pray that everyone is taking a break from continually watching the news regarding the Coronavirus. It is hard to believe how the world has gone into panic mode. I can remember when I was a child, and my family had the Hong Kong Flu. I also had a broken leg at the time and did not have the strength to get myself to the bathroom alone because of the extra weight of the cast. We had a dear friend, Glenda Wilson, who put on gloves and a mask and washed her hands while she came over and took care of us. We did all recover. I think it only makes sense to think that viruses have been around for many years, and I do realize that each strain can be very different, but if we all will listen to the Center for Disease Control and take the necessary precautions, we will get through this episode.
“Cookies” for Cancer will be having the Second Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Free Easter Dinner on Saturday, April 4, at the Montezuma Community Center from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. or until the food runs out. RSVP is required to Beth Everett at 731-658-6347 or email bethriva04@yahoo.com to make sure we have enough food to feed everyone attending. We do ask that everyone coming for the FREE dinner make a donation to the American Cancer Society. Dinner will consist of baked ham, potato casserole, vegetables, and dessert. The Easter Egg Hunt will start at 1 p.m. inside the gym area. Hope to see you there.
