Cookies for Cancer had to make adjustments for next Saturday’s event at Wal-Mart due to the current COVID-19 situation. They are going to be at Henderson Family Pharmacy from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (or until they run out) Saturday, July 18, serving barbeque plates to go for $5. The event will be drive up to reduce potential COVID exposure. Plates will consist of barbeque pork, baked beans, and coleslaw. They will also have all kinds of desserts for sale, too. Pies, cakes, fudge and much more! Remember the Child Sponsor is Kristen Daniel, a native from Chester County, so please come out and support this really good cause and remember to keep Kristen and her family in your prayers. Together we are supporting Kristen, LeBonheur and ACS. If you have any questions, call Cookies for Cancer at 731-658-6347. See everybody there.
I think we are all so ready for COVID-19 to end. With cases on the rise in Chester and the surrounding areas, it is very important to try to follow the precautionary guidelines that have been issued to prevent continued spread. We are fast approaching the start of school and definitely need things to get back to a more normal way of life. If you feel you have any symptoms of the virus, have respect for others and stay at home and self-quarantine yourself to help prevent the spread. Some people seem to think it is nothing, but obviously, if were just a normal flu, it would have gone away at least during the summer months, and it has not, so maybe we should accept the fact that it is not over by any means and each try to do our part in helping prevent the spread.
Montezuma sends out happy birthday wishes Jeri Harris on July 18, Norma Morrison and Brittney Denbow on July 19, Ann Moore on July 29 and René Webb on July 22.
Please continue to pray for Kristen Daniel, Linda Tacker, Buck Burkhead, Faye Crouse, Nancy Thomas, Ed and Betty Morris, Ann Morrison, our country and our government. We especially want to remember the families of Dan Guinn IV, James Wyatt, Janiece Pearson, June Davis, Carrie Neal Cherry and other families that have recently lost loved ones.
We would love to have some new people get involved in working with us at the community center. Please call me at 608-2857 if you would like to join in.
Please call Betty Cooper at 879-9078 to book the use of the community center.
Please send any noteworthy news you have to share in this column to gaylecox@bellsouth.net or call me at 608-2857.
Blessings to all of you until next time.
