Hello to everyone! I hope you all had a good week and enjoyed Valentine’s Day and the extra day off for President’s Day if you were able to be off that day. We had two pleasant days last week. Friday was cooler than Saturday, but thankful the rain stopped for a while. I know we had two nights with very cold temperatures. I have seen forsythia, buttercups and red weigela blooming. Our tulip tree has some buds, too. I hope if spring comes we can enjoy all the beauty it offers and not jump right into summer, but it is in God’s hands. We must be thankful for each day as it comes. We are beginning to see more birds now. We have had several woodpeckers, wrens and cardinals so far.
Thanks to the sweet friend who sends cards to me/James and for the Valentine’s one. It was really a very pretty surprise. I hope you had a very good one with your children and grandchildren.
We attended a 90th birthday celebration for my mother’s cousin Andy Maness on Saturday, Feb. 15, at their church, Plainview Church of Christ. His birthday was Feb. 12. Andy and Doris have had a lot of health issues lately, but both seem to be improving. They had a very good turnout with many friends, family and church members attending. A potluck meal was provided with barbeque and trimmings furnished. Several spoke about the way Andy was such a great example of loving as a Christian man and a wonderful father, husband and friend. He also helped other children along the journey when he saw the need. They have opened their home many times when Lectureship is held at Freed-Hardeman.
Happy Birthday to Billy Dickson, Feb. 16; Jerry Rogers, Feb. 17; Margie McGhee, Feb. 18; and Dwayne Williams, Feb. 21.
Please continue to remember these in prayer: Lynn Allen, Denise Armstrong, Jerry Bain, Lois Bain, Bill Barrett, Sheila Berry, Marie Bishop, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Maverick Butler, Leon Carroll, Diane Cross, Johnny Hays, Danny Jones, Judy Love, Nancy McCaskill, Nancy Morris, LaVelle Page, MaryAnn Priddy, Pam Priddy, Dalton Seratt, Mike Tignor, Adam Wise and the Lee Nell King and Larry Woody families. “Blessing: My Prayer” by Helen Steiner Rice – “Bless me, Heavenly Father/Forgive my erring ways/Grant me strength to serve thee/Put purpose in my days/Give me understanding/Enough to make me kind/So I may judge all people/With my heart and not my mind/me to be patient in everything I do/Content to trust your wisdom/And to follow after you/Help me when I falter, and hear me when I pray/And receive me in thy kingdom/To dwell with thee someday.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are not answering numbers we do not recognize due to the high number of robocalls. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
