Hello to everyone! I hope you all had a good week and enjoyed Valentine’s Day and the extra day off for President’s Day if you were able to be off that day. We had two pleasant days last week. Friday was cooler than Saturday, but thankful the rain stopped for a while. I know we had two nights with very cold temperatures. I have seen forsythia, buttercups and red weigela blooming. Our tulip tree has some buds, too. I hope if spring comes we can enjoy all the beauty it offers and not jump right into summer, but it is in God’s hands. We must be thankful for each day as it comes. We are beginning to see more birds now. We have had several woodpeckers, wrens and cardinals so far.
Thanks to the sweet friend who sends cards to me/James and for the Valentine’s one. It was really a very pretty surprise. I hope you had a very good one with your children and grandchildren.
We attended a 90th birthday celebration for my mother’s cousin Andy Maness on Saturday, Feb. 15, at their church, Plainview Church of Christ. His birthday was Feb. 12. Andy and Doris have had a lot of health issues lately, but both seem to be improving. They had a very good turnout with many friends, family and church members attending. A potluck meal was provided with barbeque and trimmings furnished. Several spoke about the way Andy was such a great example of loving as a Christian man and a wonderful father, husband and friend. He also helped other children along the journey when he saw the need. They have opened their home many times when Lectureship is held at Freed-Hardeman.
