Hello to everyone! Today is Sunday, Feb. 13. The skies are a beautiful blue, and the sun is gorgeous! The temperature is 36 degrees, but the sun makes it bearable. The weather forecast for the week ahead calls for temperatures from 47-67 degrees in the daytime and 21-51 at night. I am hoping we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The main chance of rain is Thursday. It looks as if this week might spoil us. I do not know when people begin to plant early veggies, but I bet this week will get them thinking. Maybe we could begin to walk outside this week. Good for the mind and heart.
Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone. One can appreciate Valentine’s Day even if single. We all have something or someone we love and are thankful for. Many have pets. These furry creatures give more love than they ever get. Friends call and check on others. People from church care about you. I know sometimes we all feel alone. I do sometimes, and I am married. Satan really knows which button to push, but know you are loved, you are special and you are beautiful! You were made in the likeness of God and He does not make any mistakes. If you get down, He is always there. Tell Him you LOVE Him on this Valentine’s Day.
We were able to return to church today. It was great to get back again. We are doing much better. The sermon was on LOVE. Love is from God, and God is LOVE. It was a very good sermon. Love is for every day, not just one day. Please remember to let others know you care for them and thank God for every blessing seen and unseen.
Many will be watching the Super Bowl today and enjoying various foods. It will be an interesting game. It is hot in Los Angeles today.
Happy birthday to Judy Stanfill and DeWitt Swayne, 2-12; Johnny Hayes, 2-13; Meghan McKinney, 2-14; Donna Bishop, 2-15; Jerry Rogers, 2-17; Margie McGhee, 2-18; Dwayne Williams, 2-21; Taylor Morris, 2-24; and Braylon Sanford, 2-25.
Please continue to remember these in prayer – Randy Baker, Sheila Berry, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. and Jeanette Butler, John Butler, Jackie Chambers, Maryann Lackie, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Todd Rencher, Jake Richardson, Gina Robinson, Bro. Larry Rose, Kristi Taylor, David Tucker, Tony Tucker and Adam Wise. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
“Our faith is tested every day. Sometimes it is tested in small ways, sometimes in a big way. It is tested when someone we love is seriously ill or dies. We ask, ‘Why God?’ He was a good person, prayed, went to church. ‘Why him?’ Or we lose our job just as our children are ready for college. ‘Why me?’ Wildfires rage and hundreds lose their homes. Storms rage and lives are lost. Haven’t you ever wondered  how a good God could let things like this happen? We are not that different from the Pharisees. Some people allow the doubts to turn into denial that God exists. The rest of us hang on knowing that God doesn’t cause bad things, He helps us get through them.” – Frances Taylor
“There’s no storm that God won’t carry you through. No bridge that God won’t help you cross. No battle that God won’t help you through. No heartache that God can’t help you let go of. He is so much bigger than anything you will ever face. Leave everything in His hands. Embrace each day confidently, knowing that He will take care of you.” – unknown
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
