Hello to all from our little corner of the world. Skies went from blue to light gray on Sunday as it rained off and on throughout the day.
My geraniums are still pretty. I am trying to hold off on mums and pumpkins until around the first of October. Also, purslane and lantana continue to flower. Our birds are still visiting, but so is a pesky squirrel. I like squirrels out in the open, not on the deck. We did see two fawn this afternoon. The week ahead forecasts sunny with temperatures in the 80s all week. We shall see, but I would love it.
Chester County High School had its 55 year reunion Saturday night. Approximately 90 people attended. There was a tribute to the class president Brad Sipes, who has passed away. His two daughters accepted a plaque in his honor. A meal was catered, and desserts were furnished by classmates. Many stories were told of attending Chester County Schools, especially high school. There were lots of decorations, and a photographer was there for the event. Due to some illnesses and other issues, some were unable to attend at the last minute and were missed. The class has lost 28 classmates.
Southside High School (my alma mater) had our 50 year class reunion Saturday night. Out of a class of 146 graduates, 76 attended the morning brunch, and 74 and 46 plus ones attended the reunion gathering last night – 42 girls and 32 boys. We have lost 32 fellow graduates and another nine fellow classmates over the 50 years. The reunion was held at the Malesus Community Center on Hwy. 18. The meal was catered and very good. Decorations were in place and a photographer was there. I am looking forward to the pictures. Our class president spoke prior to a band playing. Several danced and had fun. I have only attended the first one and this one. It has been determined that our following get-togethers will be a picnic the same time every year. We can bring a person and visit/eat, but there will be no costs involved. This was mainly considered due to the number of classmates we have lost. We had one person that traveled the farthest, and she lives in Plymouth, Minn., (823 miles). It is a good thing we all had name tags because many I would not have recognized. I hope to be around for our next meeting and appreciate all the hard work that was involved.

“Bold and Proud” by Randy Flanagan – “Today the Devil is walking Bold and Proud/He’s not even trying to hide/Beware when you’re out on the street/Watch who’s lurking by your side/He’s got a big smile on his face/There’s no need for him to frown/His plan and followers are in action/Bringing our World tumbling down/He may approach you bearing gifts/Be dressed like you and I/But don’t fall prey to his hand/For there’s no trick he won’t try/He’s a master of deception/Looking for your soul to steal/Promises, lures and temptation/Under the spell of his will/Don’t you think it’s about time/For us to Stand and Fight/Before the Devil invades your home/And moves in late one night/We’ve got to pull together/Join with the Father and the Son/Be Bold and Proud Christians/And stop the Hell that has begun.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
