Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. I know some have a post-holiday letdown, and I am sure this is normal for many. After all the hustle and bustle of the season – cleaning, planning, buying and visiting with family and friends, many of whom we haven’t seen in a while – it is back to reality. I think it is good for us all to have some of this hectic (if I may use that word) season. We enjoy all the eating and socializing, and then, we rest and realize many of us have extra pounds to lose. Oh no! Many enjoyed days off from work; children were out of school (yay!), and no mail meant no bills – hehe. There are also those (like us) that are glad it is over so that we some normalcy in our lives.
December is a hard month for many financially and emotionally. Many have lost loved ones, and others are sick, but the New Year offers us hope. Many hope for good health, a job, health insurance, food, a warm place to live, children that visit, reliable transportation and to feel needed, wanted and loved. Yes, these are a few things I can think of many would hope for. Note I use HOPE, not WISH. Hope is the feeling of wanting something to happen and thinking that it could happen. Wish is to feel or express a strong desire for something that is not easily attainable, to want something that can not or probably will not happen.
I believe that as long as there is life there is hope. Do not give up. God has plans for us all for the future. Try to get up each day and be thankful for another day regardless of how bleak things may seem. Remember that we lost a son when he was 14, and we still go through valleys, but God NEVER leaves us. Look up and be thankful for every blessing seen and unseen. Life is a gift and can end at any second. “Life ain’t always beautiful, but it’s a beautiful ride.” – sung by Gary Allan.
Happy Belated Birthday to Peyton Cooper, Dec. 30, and Doris Sells and Amy Lofton, Jan. 4.
Happy birthday to Nancy McCaskill and Kynleigh Butler, Jan. 7, Curt McKinney, Jan. 8, Doris Rowlett, Jan. 10, and Joseph Gladish, Jan. 11.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Andrew Acred, Lynn Allen, Jerry Bain, George and Marie Bishop, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Maverick Butler, Leon Carroll, Billy Dickson, Ann Hinson, Danny Jones, Lee Nell King, Sarah McLemore, Nancy McCaskill, Owen McKinney, Myra McKinley, Nancy Morris, Billy Neal Priddy, Pam Priddy, James Reddin, Donald Rowlett, Dalton Seratt, Adam Wise and Trey Young. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those. Even if you don’t know their name, God does.
There is no perfect life, no perfect job, no perfect childhood, no perfect marriage and no perfect set of people who will always do what we expect them to do. What we have is a perfect GOD who is able to lead us through this imperfect life with unfailing strength, incomparable wisdom and infinite LOVE.
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please call me at 983-0718 or email mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
