Hello to all from this little corner of the world. It was cloudy on Sunday with a damp cool temperature of 49 degrees after all the rain we had Saturday evening and night. Some have said they are having early dogwoods bloom. Our irises are up through the ground now. Things are becoming greener, but our azaleas have yet to show much life. I hope the winter did not get them. James is beginning to get the mower ready. We do have a large tree limb to remove from the storm. We have had a lot of cardinals, and I have seen a chickadee and blue bird recently. I hope everyone is doing well.
A historical marker has been placed in the Mifflin community. After much research, Mr. James Bright, Chester County Historian, with help from others was able to get the historical marker placed on Hwy. 200 in the Mifflin community. It was established by Colonel James Purdy and named for the county where he was born in 1798 – Mifflin County, Pa. Purdy came to Tennessee in 1819. During the 1820’s he served as Surveyor-General of the Ninth Surveyor’s District with his office-home in Mifflin. In 1825, he platted the first McNairy County Seat, which he named Purdy. Appointed Postmaster of Mifflin in 1834, he served as a member of the Constitutional Convention in Nashville that same year. Colonel John Purdy died in 1836 and is buried in the Old Mifflin Cemetery, now Chester County.

“When we are young we don’t understand the conundrum of life, we succeed and we fail, we laugh and we cry, we grieve and we rejoice, we fall and we rise up, it takes courage to live this life and so little time at the end to use what we’ve learned: that FAITH is the cornerstone of all things, GRACE is the forgiveness we all need, and none of it is worth anything without LOVE.” – Nancy Veldman
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
