Saturday was a cloudy, chilly day. What is everyone doing to beat the blah days? I suppose the normal washing, dusting, etc., could suffice, but that is not fun. Shopping could do it, but that requires money. Who has money after the holidays? We could play board games or cards; that sounds like fun. Also, we could read our Bible or another good book or do a word search or crossword puzzle.
We have one week left before we start the month of February. The month of LOVE. Valentine’s month. Also, remember Spring is coming! We heard someone say spring is predicted to be earlier. Time will tell.
The weather for the next 15 days shows off and on chances of rain, and the temperatures should run in the mid 40s to upper 50s.
Many people are crafting now. I see gnomes, Easter bunnies and many Valentine things, and I enjoy looking at them and watching these people with creative insights make new things yet be dollar conscious. If a person wanted to, they could do crafts and sell them or put them on consignment. Hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained. I would love to hear from anyone doing crafts and what they are doing. Good luck to all.
Sarah Utley, granddaughter of Rachel Ellington and daughter of Greg and Sherry Ellington Utley, recently signed with Belmont College to play golf. She is a senior at Huntsville High School. Marla and Kendyl Davidson and Anita Lambert traveled to Huntsville, Ala., along with Rachel Ellington to celebrate this achievement. We wish her all the best in her endeavors.
Kirk Walls of Jackson graduated from Tennessee State Trooper School in Nashville Dec. 14. Those who traveled for this event were Rachel Ellington, Anita Lambert and Kevin, Marla, Kendyl and Brooklynn Davidson. The following night, Kirk proposed to Brooklyn. This was followed by a surprise engagement party along with celebration of Kirk’s graduation. A fall wedding is planned. Brooklyn is the granddaughter of Rachel Ellington. Kirk is a state trooper in Henderson County.
A friend sent me an email to sign a petition against using animals for testing makeup. They can have breathing issues, skin problems and worse. Many times after the animals have served their purpose, they discard/kill them. How horrible! I would rather not use makeup than to have that happen to these poor animals. I am against this. Maybelline uses animals for testing. If I find out about others, I will let you know. By the way, L’oreal owns Maybelline.
Happy birthday to Matt Dickey, Jan. 26, and Alvin Jones, Jan. 29.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Andrew Acred, Lynn Allen, Jerry Bain, Marie Bishop, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Maverick Butler, Leon Carroll, Diane Cross, Ann Hinson, Danny Jones, Judy Love, Lee Nell King, Judy Love, Nancy McCaskill, Nancy Morris, Cissy Nichols, Lavelle Page, Tommy Phillips, Billy Neal Priddy, Pam Priddy, James Reddin, Bro. Rose, Dalton Seratt, Mike Tignor, Jo Willis and Adam Wise. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those. Even if you do not know their name, God does.
“Right Beside You” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “Don’t miss me when you’re tired/or when you’re all alone/Don’t miss me when you’re older/there’s so much still unknown/I’d rather have you smiling/when memories come your way/I’d rather have you cherish all the love we shared each day/Don’t feel alone when holidays begin and I’m not there/I have a secret for you,” I’m staying EVERYWHERE!”/I know if you could see me, for a second you would know/that I’m right where I so want to be within our Heaven’s glow/But, that’s not how it works up here/You have to dig down deep/and blindly trust God’s promises/I hate to see you weep/Try hard to hold on strongly/to the Faith I know you own/I’ll be so proud and happy/I’m right here——-you’re not alone.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please call me at 983-0718 or mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area are ‘hungry’ for news from home.

Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
