Hello to all! I hope everyone had a good week. We have had some pretty weather, but I am ready for sunny, dry days.
We have some flowers to plant and will put out a small garden. Thanks to Google, I found out that we should plant a few rows of corn together and okra together for pollination. I also read not to plant those two until after 4-28. It is best to wait until the second week in May. Now, if the rain cooperates…I wonder how many of you are going to grow your own food this summer. I know some have mentioned the “food shortage,” and they are planting. I freeze veggies. I could can, but then there is a question of storage. I was checking out Sam’s Club on the computer, and the things we usually order showed out of stock. Guess we can change our menu and eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. As I usually say, nothing lasts forever.
We are very blessed in the Friendship area to have a woman that loves to bake. She makes sourdough bread, rolls, cookies, pies, cakes and cinnamon rolls to name a few. She is also very gracious and shares with others. She is one busy woman. I wonder what it would be like to spend one baking day with her. I know her home smells wonderful. Our granddaughter said she could easily eat half a loaf  of “her” bread. We were the recipients of a loaf this week, and it went great with the spaghetti I made. Thanks so much for your kindness and sharing your gift of baking with others – you know who you are.
Praying for everyone working to help others with this coronavirus in whatever way it may be. I know that some restrictions have been lifted, and the ones that make the decisions are trying to take it slow. I just hope it does not backfire. We all must do what we feel is right for us and our family/friends to remain safe. We will still use masks and will not be out in public much. I also pray that when this is gone it does not return in the winter during flu time.
Happy Birthday to Aaron (Radar) Williams, 4-26, and Beverly Butler, 4-28. Happy anniversary to Marla and Kevin Davidson, 4-27, Kim and Frances Carroll and Janice and William Acred, 4-29.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Lynn Allen, Denise Armstrong, Brinson Biggs, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Maverick Butler, Leon Carroll, Diane Cross, Danny Jones, Nancy McCaskill, Nancy Morris, LaVelle Page, MaryAnn Priddy, Pam Priddy, Donald and Doris Rowlett, Doris Sells, Dalton Seratt, Kenny Stevens, Kristi Taylor, Mike Tignor, and Adam Wise. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, all those affected by the coronovirus and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those. Even if you do not know their name, God does.
“A Story” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “I have a story – long but true…I need to share my thoughts with you/When I was young – I was in awe…of all the beauty that I saw/A tiny flower that was so small – within a week had grown so tall/I marveled at the birds I’d see…who’d choose to fly among the trees/A whippoorwill would sing it’s song – the music would play on and on/Such tiny crickets spoke at night – at every glance – a brand new sight/I’d look up at the skies so blue…filled with powdery clouds there too/Soft breeze would blow across my face – and I felt joy within that space/An urging started in my soul – I felt there’s more I need to know/I need to learn what caused the rain – so I could dance in joy again/I hoped this awe could never change…but sorrows made me rearrange/I’d see that sadness happens, too – I don’t know why – I wish I knew/I sat out on my lawn in vain – and asked for ‘love’ instead of pain/Something stirred inside my soul…such beauty – that I longed to know/I closed my eyes and then I asked…while I just sat there on the grass/I felt a certain call that day – and that was when I learned to pray/A Mighty Power answered me – a Greatness that I could not see/Please listen closely as I end – don’t ever wonder or pretend/In reverent silence seek what’s true – an awesome God is hearing you/Although I’ll see more pain again – there’s much more love that God will send.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. We are not answering numbers we do not recognize due to the high number of robocalls. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
