Hello to everyone! Sunday was an absolutely gorgeous day! The skies were a medium blue, and the wind was calm. I am so glad to have Daylight Savings Time. I enjoy not feeling like it is bedtime at 5:30 p.m. or 6 p.m., nor do I go to bed at that time. I understand mowers are really selling now. I am sure this is just the beginning of yard equipment being sold. We are continuing to enjoy our birds. We have titmouse, cardinals, eastern bluebirds, red headed woodpeckers, finches, wrens and towhees to name a few. We have binoculars to watch them with. James is the one who uses them the most. We had a sad incident Saturday night. We heard a BIG thump and thought, “Oh no, a bird has flown into a window.” Sure enough, a female cardinal was lying on our deck in front of our French doors. She was still breathing, so I picked her up and gently stroked her over and over, letting her know she was safe. I asked the Lord to help the little bird he created and knew that He would know if she had any babies to attend to. I eventually sat her on our picnic table, and she just sat there. I offered food, but it was unwanted. She eventually flitted up onto the banister and sat there for a while. The next time I looked, she was gone. James went outside to make sure she had not fallen off her perch, and she was gone. Thank the Lord. I hope she had a good night.
Well, Bandit has been at it again per Billy Joe Seaton. He had let Bandit out for his afternoon exercise, and Bandit is usually gone for a while. This time, he came back after about 30 minutes with a little friend. He had a turtle and put it on the loveseat but would not let BJ get close enough to take it away from him. The poor turtle was closed up tight. When he took it back out, BJ followed him and coaxed it away from him and put it over in the goat pen so he could not get to it. Bandit spent another hour barking at it before it finally got out to continue its run. BJ says he hopes a turtle is all that he brings home alive. My, my, boys will be boys – lol.
I would like to warn anyone who has a small animal, especially dogs, that hawks are out and hunting. I have a friend that lost her small furbaby to this. It only takes a short time to occur. We have observed our little Pepper being tracked here lately. Just be sure and watch them.
We went to our church, Friendship Baptist, Sunday, and it was great to get back. We are having Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and church at 10:30 a.m. The sermon was very good, and I also loved hearing Deanna Seaton singing “Midnight Cry.” We had very good attendance today, despite the ongoing COVID issue.
Happy birthday to Darrell Williams, 3-22; Marla Kirk, 3-24; Lauren Lofton, 3-27; and Jan Priddy, 3-28.

“Give” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “Take me Lord, into Your arms – soothe my worries haunting deep/with Your Mighty comfort brings…that promised peace that I can keep/You love each of us just the same and want our souls to be content/Gently send me extra love – when I feel all my hope is spent/With Your Power I can stand – and any evil I’ll endure/You are my strength in darkened days…You are my perfect, sacred cure/I love you, Lord and offer up – all the struggles chasing me/and with that Faith I know You’ll hear – a blessed answer You will be/With every sorrow brought my way…and with the doubts that stalk my soul/I know Your Mercy will defeat; and once again Your truth I’ll know/that You, My God, are all I need..no matter what this world can bring/Once I lift my needs to You – Your peace will stir my soul to sing!”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
