Hello to all! I hope everyone is well. Wednesday was a beautiful sunny day and one of the last few warmer days we will have, I suppose. The trees are still pretty in our backyard with rusty brown leaves and pines in the background. We have seen a few birds and two cardinals, a male and a female. I believe as it gets colder we will see more. We still have a little outside trimming to do; we just can not seem to coordinate with the weather, especially when fall seems elusive. If we can not get it done, we will finish in early spring. Life is full of adjustments one way or the other. Our red nandinas are very pretty with our green shrubs.
It is very nice to see new things in our town. There has been several opportunities at Williams Auditorium for entertainment. On Saturday, Jan. 18, there will be Winter Sing. It is an evening with bluegrass and gospel – The Isaacs, No Time Flat and The Renaissance Bluegrass Band. On Feb. 14, (Valentine’s Day) Henry Cho, a comedian, will be the entertainment. We are very blessed to have these opportunities, and it does offer some revenue for our city. To those making this happen, keep up the good work.
Well, basketball season has started. Chester County High School played Jackson Christian Nov. 19. The girls won 49-45, and the boys lost 82-60. This is just the beginning, and I am sure there will be many exciting moves on the court this year. Good luck, Eagles!
I am sure many are preparing to entertain family and friends for Thanksgiving, and others are planning to travel. My parents have been gone since 2004 and 2006. Our family has shrunk. We have lost our parents, my brother-in-law and our son. Family is smaller, but we so very grateful and blessed each day to still have each other. There are many homeless and sick people who will have very little this time of year. Please remember these in your prayers.
Happy birthday to Kathy Pounds, Nov. 24, and Doris McKinney, Nov. 27.
Happy anniversary to Ray and Ann Pusser, Nov. 26.
Please continue to remember these in prayer: Lynn Allen, Jerry Bain, George and Marie Bishop, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Janis Brewer, Kay Burton, Maverick Butler, Leon Carroll, Billy Dickson, Bro. Glenn and Judy Harris, Lee Nell King, Billy Frank Latham, Sarah McLemore, Nancy McCaskill, Owen McKinney, Andy Maness, Nancy and David Morris, Billy Neal Priddy, Pam Priddy, James Reddin, Dalton Seratt, Jean Slaughter, Jerry Weir, Adam Wise and Trey Young. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders and first responders There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those. Even if you do not know their name, God does.
“Thanksgiving” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “Being “Thankful” isn’t once a year – nor ever should it be/We each have blessings poured each day and so much love to see/It’s great to have a special day to mark such ‘gratitude’/but, waking with thanksgiving is something we should do/Our bounties flow with God’s great grace – and we are shown each day/that everything around us is shared ‘free’ in every way/The air we breathe is always there – as sunlight warms our face/later, when the day is worn – soft moonlight fills our space/I can’t imagine where I’d be…without God’s many ‘lifts’/I can’t imagine living in a world not filled with gifts/Our gratefulness should always show – on each and every day/as we work hard to honor them; and thank God when we pray/True ‘Thankfulness’ should fill our hours – and shine out from our hearts/and we should end each day with praise…like from the very start/How Blessed we are, what perfect grace is showered from ‘above’/and all God wants for these sweet gifts – is to return with LOVE.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please call me at 983-0718 or email mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
