Hello to all! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and remembered to give thanks for every blessing seen and unseen. The skies were a beautiful light blue with puffs of white clouds scattered throughout on Sunday. The temperature was 52 degrees. We had a good sermon at Friendship Baptist Church and several visitors. We are thankful for all, and please come back any time. We are practicing for our Christmas play at church which will be at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 19 with a potluck meal to follow. Please come and enjoy the program and fellowship with us that evening
Well, as the saying goes, it is back to the books at least for a little while. I hope everyone that was off last week for Thanksgiving enjoyed every minute of downtime. Remember that Christmas break will be Dec. 20 until Jan. 4, 2022. WOW – a loooong break!
We are so blessed. As most know, our youngest son Nick was killed 12-11-97. Now, that seems like forever ago, right? Yes, sometimes it does, and sometimes it is as fresh as yesterday. We are thankful for memories and our blessings. It takes a long, long time to deal with grief, and it is different for each person. The waves of grief ebb and flow as do tears. We must do our best to take one day at a time and not live in the past. We can remember the past, but it is not good or healthy to stay there. We are not promised tomorrow, and God gave us this one life to live, too. He gave His only PERFECT Son to die for us so that we could live with Him in paradise. These are my beliefs and thoughts – not everyone will fall into this area. I just know that being sad all the time only makes me and others around me unhappy. Nick would want us to be happy and live our life. Living sad is not really living. There is help out there. There are friends that care (even though we do not think so at times), counseling, reading positive power books including the Bible, medication and other things. Do not give up on God or yourself! One baby step at a time is enough. Be patient with yourself and others as much as possible. They mean well most of the time. Talk to God. He is ALWAYS there and BELIEVE a better day is ahead. It has taken me many years, and I would not say I am healed, but I am broken, yet mended. My heart and soul belongs to God, and I pray that everyone finds peace along this journey of life. Live, love, laugh – for there is no guarantee of tomorrow. Prayers to you all and God bless.
Happy birthday to Tessa Hinson, 12-2, and Garrett Chalk and Kirk Bray, 12-3.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Randy Baker, Sheila Berry, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. and Jeanette Butler, Jackie Chambers, Vicki Dickson, Maryann Lackie, Jason Livingston, Nancy McCaskill, Sarah McLemore, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Jake Richardson, Gina Robinson, Kristy Taylor, David Tucker, Tony Tucker, Jerry Weir, Clarence Wells and Jo Willis and Adam Wise. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
“Dear Lord, for all those hurting today, we ask for you to bless each one with Your peace. Please give comfort to them. May they find Your strength and grace when they need it the most. We ask for You to be near to the broken hearted and to bind up their wounds. We pray that the lonely would sense Your nearness and find hope in You. Please meet every need and fill each aching heart to overflowing with Your love that never fails, In the name of Jesus we ask these things. Amen.” – Hope for the brokenhearted
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
