Hello to everyone. I hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas. I know there is always sadness for many at this time of year, and we are in the same boat with you. It is sad without those we love, but with the love from God and family, we make it through another year. We learn to appreciate the fragility of life more, or at least we should. None of us are guaranteed another day. We need to give thanks to God for every day of life and the blessings seen and unseen. They are there. I also know there are sad cases of job loss, divorces, children that are now caregivers and many others too numerous to mention. Life ain’t always beautiful, but it is a beautiful ride!
The New Year is quickly approaching. There will be many celebrations to see the New Year in. We usually stay in and watch Rockin New Year’s Eve. It has been another rough year with COVID, restrictions, loss of lives and businesses without workers. It has been the weirdest year I have seen. I do not make resolutions; most do not keep them anyway. I do hope that each of you thinks about this past year and how you can make the new year better. I am going to try. As Bro. Glenn preached on Sunday, 1. What is important to you? It should be God. Make your relationship with Christ the top priority. Everything else will follow according to His plans for each of us. 2. Pray daily. Pray for yourself and family. God hears it all. Listen to yourself pray and see what is important to you. Make prayer a priority. 3. Place family high on the list. 4. Learn to live today! We are not promised another breath. Appreciate the blessing of another day. Try and make a difference in the lives of others. Be kind; smile. Do not dwell on the past – we can not change it. We can make plans for the future and should but just remember we are not in control of it. Number four is my thoughts: life is what happens to you while you are making plans to do something else.
Happy birthday to June Smith, 12-26; Brooklyn Davidson, Mickey Dyer, Norris McCaskill and John Butler, 12-27; Terry Coleman, 12-29; Peyton Cooper, 12- 30; and Donna Latham, 12-31. Happy anniversary to Amy and Chad Lofton, 12-27, and Shelia and Jeff Smith, 12-29.
Please continue to remember these in prayer: Randy Baker, Sheila Berry, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. and Jeanette Butler, Jackie Chambers, Tom Gaugh, Maryann Lackie, LaVelle Page, David Parchman, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Jake Richardson, Gina Robinson, Bro. Larry Rose, Kristi Taylor, David Tucker, Tony Tucker and Adam Wise. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
“May the wonder of Christ’s very personal love for you overwhelm you and make your knees weak. May the reality that He came to earth to seek and save the lost give you a heart for those who’ve lost their way. May the power of His Spirit within compel you to walk by faith and not sight. May the promise of His unconditional love compel you to dream big, take risks, and give generously. As you wrap up this year, may you wear His grace like a beautiful robe, may you entrust your missteps to Him, and may you trust Him to transform you from the inside out.” -Susie Larson
Have a very blessed New Year.
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
