I hope you are all well and managing this social distancing. Sunday started out beautiful with gorgeous sunshine and a slight breeze. Later that afternoon, there were severe storms. I had hoped we would get some rain as our plants are in the ground, but I do hope we are spared from more severe weather.
We are really enjoying watching our birds. We put some safflower seeds out to try and deter the blackbirds. It seems to help. We have three sock feeders with thistle for finches, and we did add some songbird mixture to another feeder. James made a bee trap for the bore bees, and it really works. Those old May flies can sure bite. I think it is worse than a mosquito. We have seen yellow and blue finches, a white headed woodpecker, house sparrows and house finches, cardinals, hummingbirds and doves to name a few. Our garden is in, and we hope and pray things grow. We love to watch the fruits of our labor succeed. My flowers are out, and I love them. Beautiful yellow and reddish petunias, bleeding hearts, marigolds, geraniums, ivy and a few others I can not remember the names of.
We went to Walmart at Lexington Friday, May 1. BIG mistake. I hope I can remember not to go at the first of the month. Traffic was horrible. We got my flowers and our other necessities, and when we went to check out, the lines were backed up into the clothing area. They had seven checkers and self-checkouts going. Their store was stocked well and very neat. There were not very many shortages. I may start ordering mine online like a lot of people I know do.
Happy Birthday to Dexter Butler, 5-2; Donald Rowlett and William Bishop, 5-3; Debbie Mainord, 5-6; Amy Ross, 5-7; and Barry Williams and Bobbie N. Wells, 5-8.
Happy Anniversary to Derrith and Chris Cooper, 5-5.
Please continue to remember these in prayer: Lynn Allen, Denise Armstrong, Brinson Biggs, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Maverick Butler, Leon Carroll, Diane Cross, Danny Jones, Nancy McCaskill, Nancy Morris, LaVelle Page, MaryAnn Priddy, Pam Priddy, Donald and Doris Rowlett, Doris Sells, Dalton Seratt, Kenny Stevens, Kristi Taylor, Mike Tignor and Adam Wise. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID-19 and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those. Even if you do not know their name, God does.
“Life is amazing. And then it’s awful. And then it’s amazing again. And in between the amazing and the awful it’s ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing. Hold on thru the awful. And relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living – heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.” – L R Knost
“God is saying to you today, ‘You’re going to be telling a different story very soon. A story of how miracles have found you. A success story filled with so much inspiration. You will give so much hope to so many people when they see how much you overcame and still came out on top.’”—Jennifer Wagner
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. We are not answering numbers we do not recognize due to the high number of robocalls. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
