Hello to everyone! I hope it has been a good week for you all. It rained for the a couple of days last week which tempered the heat some. Our grass has grown, and I thought we would be mowing this weekend while it is cooler, but we have many spots where the grass is not tall enough. I guess we will just find other projects to do and mow when it is hotter. We might as well get used to it. It is not going to be cool for a while now.
I do not know when Ms. Inez Cash’s birthday is, but I wish you a WONDERFUL 100th birthday!
July 4 was on Sunday. I hope everyone had safe travels and enjoyed whatever plans they made. This day is to be remembered in celebration of the birth of this American nation on July 4, 1776. It has given way to festivities that celebrate both America and the lives and freedoms that the accomplishments of American Independence have allowed.
We were at Kroger Thursday, and someone was cooking ribs. The smell wafting through the air was mouthwatering. It seems almost everyone was out buying food, water and gas. I do not know how there seems to always be a lot of people shopping or eating out. The price of everything is going up. I remember back when we were young newlyweds and our first child was born. Wages were not great then but maybe they were okay for then. I can remember people buying pork chops, and I would think, “Ground beef is fine. I can do a lot with that.” Now, even ground beef is high. We are on social security, and there are single parents with children and families with children, and I do not know how they stretch the money far enough. Maybe this is an aftereffect from COVID. I noticed today an automotive lot is low on cars, more than usual, and I guess it is because they can not get the parts to make the cars (chips and such). Now, we are told there is the Delta variant of COVID. It is nice to be with family and friends again, and we still should use caution, but I will be glad when shortages and prices are lowered some.
Happy Birthday to Dwain Seaton, Jr. and Kim Hearn Robinson, 7-5; Brett Seaton, 7-7; Mallan Morris and Will Seaton, 7-9.
Happy anniversary to Stephanie and Darren Hatch, 7-6, and Pat and Faye Connor, 7-10.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Denise Armstrong, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. Butler, Jackie Chambers, Walter Cooper, Wood Deming, Rachel Ellington, Nancy McCaskill, LaVelle Page, Beth Plunk, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Logan Rencher, Donald Rowlett, Randy Sells, Dalton Seratt, Missy Seratt, David Tucker, Tony Tucker, Adam Wise and Jo Willis. Also, please pray for our military and law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day
“Today there must be a celebration, Today there must be fireworks to mark the freedom of this day. It was back then with support of all the heroes of the nation who made it possible for us to feel the freedom in the air. Today there must be a celebration with your family and friends, so that you feel that sense of pride, so that you’ll be proud to be born in the nation so bright. Today is the 4th of July! A celebration should be on your mind! Happy Independence Day!” – unknown
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
