Hello to all! The temperature Saturday was 88, and it felt like 96 due to humidity. There was a very slight breeze with beautiful blue skies, white puffy clouds and wonderful sunshine. The birds do not visit as frequently or in number as they were. Our flowers are hanging in there, as are we. We mowed again Thursday afternoon, and it was a nice afternoon. Clouds came up over the area where we live, and I thought it might rain us out, but God was good. Our effort was accomplished. It was not as hot with the clouds, and we also had a little breeze helping out. I also think zero turns are wonderful. They give a great cut and are quicker. Thankful!
We attended a surprise 70th birthday celebration at Hardeman House on Aug. 9 for Patsy Nobles Jones. She did not suspect a thing. The shindig was provided by Betty Newman, Brenda Hannah and Kathy Pounds. There was a great attendance. Patsy (Pat) was given a tiara and a “Fabulous 70” banner to wear. Frank Bell, his wife and granddaughter attended and initiated the Happy Birthday song. There were many cards, gifts and surprises. One of the surprises was a beautiful arrangement of a dozen red roses which were noticed with oohs and aahs. There were lovely decorations noted and a large pink iced cake with butterflies in the middle. The cake was vanilla on one side and chocolate on the other. Patsy was also roasted, and she enjoyed that, too. “Manwell” is one of the stories she was roasted with, and if you have not heard about him, ask. You will not regret it – lol. Also, another one involved Ziggy. Two commissioners attended, one being from Madison County. I know we all appreciated everyone who attended and made the day special for her. It is nice to know that others are kind and thoughtful when so much is going on in our world. God bless.
Please continue to be careful when out and about. We are wearing our masks, continuing social distancing and using antibacterial gel. It is bad when Vanderbilt is full in the ER with no rooms available. Vaccines are by choice for the most part, and this virus is deadly with all ages being affected.
Happy birthday to Teresa McCaskill and Colby King, 8-15; Braxton Ellis, Brittany Gordan, Darren Hatch, Kevin Davidson and Debra Connor, 8-16; Jason Johnson, 8-17; Braelyn Ellis and Paige Barber, 8-18; and Emily Seaton, April Zimmerele, Carroll WIlliams, 8-20; and Donna McMorris, 8-21.
Happy anniversary to Carlis and Margie McGhee, 8-15, and Carey and Clint Barham, 8-20.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Randy Baker, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. Butler, Jackie Chambers, Nancy McCaskill, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Ruth Reddin, Logan Rencher, Randy Sells, Dalton Seratt, David Tucker, Tony Tucker, Amanda Ward, Clarence Wells and Adam Wise.
Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
Dear Lord, thank You for another day. I thank You that no word from You will ever fail. I thank You that I can face this day with hope in my heart because You are in control, You are still on the throne and things aren’t over until You say they are over. Please help me to trust You and to live in expectation of seeing You fulfill Your promises. Help me to keep my focus on You, The Problem Solver, instead of my problems. May Your joy be my strength and Your peace fill my heart. May I be a source of comfort, love and encouragement to others today. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
