Bill and Gail Mayfield took a guided tour of Scotland with four friends from Mississippi and Alabama. The guide shared history of Edinburgh, St. Andrews, Oban, Pitlochry, The Trossachs and Glasgow. Of particular interest to Gail was the Ferguson Clan history in the Highlands and their part in the violent war of the Jacobites on Culloden Moor in the 1700’s. They did not see the Loch Ness monster Nessie.
This week we spotlight the love in a mother/daughter relationship. Ann Hinson shares her remarkable story of the love and compassion she received from her daughter, Paula. Ann was diagnosed with shingles in Aug. 2019. While still suffering from shingles, she spilled boiling water on her left leg which resulted in severe burns.
The mother-daughter relationship was turned around. Ann became dependent upon her daughter to become the caregiver. Ann states, “Paula was a trooper and was always available to be the cook, housekeeper, do the laundry and all the other responsibilities of maintaining a home. She also stepped up to the task of changing bandages on my leg on the days that home healthcare was not scheduled. She made many changes in her work schedule to take me to the wound center for treatments.”
Ann expressed her gratitude because as difficult as it is for a child’s role to change to caregiver, it is also difficult for a mother to be in need of a child’s help. During the past several months, their relationship has grown because of the love that was given and received.
As the month progresses, please contact me if you have someone you would like to recognize for sharing their love.
