with Mary Lynn Lambert

Lots of folks are traveling and visiting family as summer reaches a close. Mary Lynn knew of several Silerton families who have been traveling and/or hosting recently. Mary Lynn writes, “Norma Jean Sedberry will be visiting with her daughter, Joyce Barker, and husband for a while. They live in Humboldt. Angie Wiley spent a few weeks in our area visiting family and friends. While here, she stayed with Oliver and Wanda Young.
Oliver and Wanda Young traveled to Gatlinburg and the mountains with their son, BJ, and family. They enjoyed their visit. Wanda reported that there were a lot of people there. Many were wearing masks. All places have signs stating masks are required. Most of the businesses have reopened.”
The Beshires and I enjoyed seeing Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse on our way home from Yellowstone.
The Beshires saw the Crazy Horse sculpture several years ago. This sculpture is privately owned and a work in progress. Linda believes the face is more defined, but the work seems to be slow over all.
Speaking of progress, many of you may have noticed that the city park’s split rail fence is in the process of going up. A big shout out goes to the laborers on this project. Kevin and I noticed them hard at work even in the rain.
Kevin recently bought a smoker, and we have been enjoying his cooking tremendously. We took the weekend to recuperate from our trip and enjoy smoked steak and chicken. Linda added some incredible sides of corn on the cob and sautéed green beans. I would love to hear what others in Silerton have been enjoying this summer and what you are looking forward to cooking in the fall.
