Hope that many of you got to see the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on Dec. 21 (dubbed the “Christmas Star”) when the planets were the closest they have been visibly in 800 years. They will remain very close together for several days.
Mary Lynn Lambert shares some travel news and birthday news with us this week. She also passed along a recipe from Judy Dillard.
“Frankie Lambert and Alfred and Jonna Ewing traveled to Toledo, Ohio, to enjoy early Christmas celebrations with children and grandchildren. They had a very good trip and enjoyed all the time they were able to spend together.
Lee and Frances Stack, Grady and Carolyn Stack, and Mary Lynn Lambert helped Ann Hinson celebrate an early birthday on Dec. 11. Ann’s birthday was Dec. 20. The siblings enjoyed red velvet cake, which is Ann’s favorite cake, and spent a few hours visiting with each other.
Judy (Chandler) Dillard shares her famous banana pudding recipe this week. Judy brings this dessert to most of the potluck meals at the Silerton Baptist Church. Her dessert always gets rare reviews, and her dish is the first dish to be emptied. She mentioned that some people get their pudding first before the dish is emptied
Combine three-fourths cup sugar, one-third cup of flour with four egg yolks. Slowly add two cups of milk and one can of condensed milk and boil over medium heat until mixture thickens. One teaspoon of vanilla flavoring.
Layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas and a portion of custard. Continue layering until custard is used. Whip egg whites until stiff with one-third cup sugar. Top on pudding and bake at 350 degrees until meringue is brown.”
