Hope everyone is staying safe and warm in this icy and snowy February we are having.
Fence parts have been ordered for the Silerton City Park so that the picket fence can extend around the entire park. A sign will be mounted soon for the pavilion honoring Mrs. Phyllis Naylor and her many contributions to the town over the years.
Condolences to the families of Doris Nelle Vickers and Betty Tucker Holder who both recently passed away. They were friends of Linda Beshires and members of the Middleton class of 1965.
As a native East Tennessean, it is always a treat for me to get to know more faces in Silerton. Mary Lynn Lambert has been great to keep me in the social loop. This week she features Sonia and Doug Thomas from Montezuma. Sonia and Doug attend the Silerton Baptist Church and share history with some of the members.
Mary Lynn Lambert writes, “Doug and Butch Ross worked together at Proctor and Gamble in Jackson. Sonia and Debbie Ross worked together at the Dialysis Clinic in Bolivar. Doug is the son of the late Harold and Carolyn Thomas. Doug’s parents were good friends with Bro. Crouthers When the Thomas’s were looking for a new church home, they chose Silerton. Recently, Sonia left her job as nurse at St. Jude to help her husband as they own the Thomas Corner Grocery in Montezuma. Sonia (Mainers) was reared in the Deanburg Community and attended the Pleasant Springs Methodist Church. She was blessed to have Bro. Jerry Wilson as her pastor on two different occasions. Doug and Sonia are the parents of three children and two grandchildren.”
