The warmer months always bring people out of their caves and into the sunshine. It is so nice to see people out and about farming and fishing, tending to lawns, walking or out riding four-wheelers. This is the Silerton bustle I first came to know. I hope that everyone will have a happy Fourth of July this year celebrating in some special way.
I’ll share a quote now that I found rejuvenating about taking joy amidst the busy bustle of Summer.
“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.” – John Lubbock
The town meeting on June 15 went well. The aldermen are working on adding a slide to the playground at the park which I know the children will love.
Mary Lynn Lambert shared some news from the recent fire station fundraiser. “A big shout out to the friends of the Silerton Fire Department. The potluck benefit turned out great. All attendees seemed very pleased to enjoy great country cooking and fellowshipping with neighbors.”
Mary Lynn also shared some travel news. “Linda (Hatch) Russell and her daughter Lisa Dixon traveled to Nashville to spend a few days with her son, Greg Young. They celebrated his birthday while there. Greg expressed that seeing his mom and sister was the best gift. Greg currently lives in Indianapolis.”
Kevin and I have some exciting personal news. Our family is growing! We are expecting a baby girl in September. We are so thrilled to have a new member join our family soon and for Otto to become a big brother!
