A potentially tragic car fire Monday afternoon had a much better ending thanks to a couple of motorists who were in the right place at the right time. Floyd Mayfield was headed North on Hwy 45 Monday afternoon just before 2, when brothers William and Gary Littleton, also traveling north, noticed Mayfield’s car was on fire. They began to attempt to alert him, and were eventually able to usher him off of the roadway, and pulled him from the vehicle just before it became engulfed. Mayfield escaped the incident unharmed.
