Chester County High School Principal Ricky Catlett announced Tuesday, May 26, that he will be leaving his position as principal at CCHS on June 30 to be Deputy Superintendent at Jackson-Madison County School District.
He leaves after being principal for six years.
In his letter of announcement, he stated he loved working for the school and enjoyed the atmosphere of love and education that was created at CCHS while he has been there. He said it is from the unity he has had with his faculty, the students, parents and the Chester County community.
“I am very sad to say good-bye to the many people I have had the privilege of meeting and working with over the past six years. For me, this school has been a vibrant, exciting place as we have implemented many initiatives and prepared our students for a successful life. Together we emphasized the importance of sharing our stories, supporting each other, looking for positive learning opportunities for everyone, collaborating with the whole school community to embrace our students, and creating ‘one heartbeat.’ This is an outstanding school that will continue to demonstrate the very best in education. The staff members always put students first, the students are hard-working, capable learners, and the parents are supportive, friendly, and caring,” he said. “I feel very fortunate to have been part of the Chester County community and I will always cherish the time spent at this school learning with all of you!”
“With the support of our amazing assistant principals, dedicated teachers, committed support staff, parents, alumni, and the Chester County community, we have laid the foundation of mutual respect, instilled academic excellence, demonstrated pride in the school and focused on our facilities with countless hours of hard work, collaboration, inspiration, and a lot of fun. We should all be incredibly proud of our accomplishments. Thank you to everyone!”
He said he will always have a place for CCHS in his heart.
“Thank you for your on-going support and cooperation. I will miss the extraordinary people I have met over the past six years and will always treasure the many fond memories of the students, parents, family members, and staff! I will always have C-LOVE! Please know that our relationship will last a lifetime and if I can ever do anything for you let me know.”
Chester County Director of Schools Troy Kilzer II said those interested in the position will be able to send in their applications/interests for the position sometime later this week.
Once the application window is closed, he along with Chester County School District leadership will select about three or four possible candidates for interviews.
By the end of June, he said the plan is to have made the offer to an individual of their choice, with a starting date of July 1.
