Starting Sept. 1, Southwest Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation members will be able to take part in the Southwest Members Care program. Southwest Members Care will give members the opportunity to round up their bills to the nearest dollar, and that change will then be donated to organizations in communities such as fire stations, senior citizen homes and more.

The Southwest Members Care Board will review grant applications and select recipients quarterly. 100 percent of the funds will go to the organization selected.

All recipients will be published in The Tennessee Magazine and on STEMC’s website.

STEMC wanted to start this in order to show “Concern for the Community” since that is one of the seven principles of a Cooperative which is a not-for-profit organization owned and controlled by the members it serves. STEMC is a Cooperative organization.

“This was a way we could give back to the community and make a big difference.” said Community Outreach Specialist Tina Morris.

Organizations can apply and see the guidelines for a grant at www.stemc.com/southwest-members-care-inc
