Billy Robert
Askew, 87, of Henderson passed away Nov. 28, 2019 at Henderson Health and
Rehabilitation Center. The family will be hosting a celebration of life
gathering at Grace Baptist Church from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, in the
Fellowship Hall.
He was born on
Jan. 27, 1932 in Bemis, the son of the late Robert Earl and Ruth Porter Askew.
He attended school at Phillips School House. He entered the U.S. Army in 1951,
serving in the 306th Field Hospital stationed in Germany and Vassincourt France
as a medic.
He married
Ruthie Otie Cupples, who passed away, and later Betty Kilzer, who also passed
away. He had made his home in Henderson where he operated Asplundh Tree
Service. He also was a landscaper alongside Arlin Porter. He later married
Tennie McCaskill, who passed away in 2019.
He is survived
by two sons, Rodney (Debra) Askew of Henderson and Jerry (Brenda) Wade of
Austin, Ark.; two daughters, Frankie L. (Jason) Copeland of Henderson and Teresa
(Ted) Ramey of Linden; one daughter-in-law, Tammy Askew; one son-in-law, Clay
Barcroft; one sister, Leahrae Taylor of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; and 16
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded
in death by his parents; one son, Randall Askew in 2017; one daughter, Jamie
Barcroft in 2019; and one sister, Earlene Jones.
