Board of Education approves 4% raise for school employees

The Chester County Board of Education met Tuesday, May 19, at Jack’s Creek Elementary School. All members were in attendance.
Spotlight was given to Jacks Creek Elementary and principal Todd Lewis presented some of their recent highlights. The school had a PSO Membership drive earlier this year and beat their goal. Students who helped meet those goals were awarded prizes, including one prize where a student got to be the principal for the day. The students also enjoyed their annual fall festival earlier in the school year. The school participated in Read Across Chester County which saw many members from the community, including members of the School Board, come read to the kids of Jacks Creek Elementary. The chromic absentee rate has gone down significantly at the school, from 21% in 2023 to 8.8% today. Third-grade teacher Melissa Greenway was Jacks Creek Elementary’s teacher of the year.
The first draft of the 2026-2027 General Purpose budget was passed unanimously. This budget included 4% raises for those who work in the schools.
A recommendation was given to revise Board policy 2.400 concerning collection of funds through online payments. The policy needed to be updated to include systems that are currently being used for online payments. The recommendation was unanimously approved.
The last item was recommendation for tenure highly recommended teachers. Those up for tenure include Amanda Coats, Collin McPherson, Jill Bland and Sandy Thompson. These recommendations were unanimously approved.
