
Mr. Bobby Eugene Ruth passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022 at his home in Henderson surrounded by family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Brad Patterson and Jerold Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at Henderson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, and from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday preceding funeral services.
He was born in Madison County on Jan. 14, 1947, son of the late Ossie Burl Ruth and Reba Mae Graves Ruth. He married Judy Elaine Smith on July 12, 1968, and they made their home in Henderson.
He worked as a young man in his father’s grocery store, 4-Way. He graduated from Chester County High School and attended West Tennessee Business College.
After graduation, he started working for Jackson Utility Division as a cost accountant. From there he worked for the Henderson Fire Department for 10 years. He attended Jackson State Community College and earned a paramedic degree. He worked for Ameristeel as a paramedic in their melt shop for 13 years. He retired and started working with his sister at Four Way Flower Shop until 2016.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Henderson, an over 50 year member of the Henderson Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. He served as the Worthy Grand Patron for the Order of the Eastern Star for the State of Tennessee in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Elaine Smith Ruth of Henderson; son, Bobby Lynn (Cathryn) Ruth of Franklin; grandchildren, Paige Christine Ruth and Henry Wiles Ruth; and sister Ossie Mae Ruth Beshires.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jimmy Allen Ruth.
