The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions completed a Mid-South Conference sweep on Saturday with Lynnlee Brown’s solo shot pushing FHU to a 3-1 victory over the Georgetown College Tigers.
In her first collegiate start for the Lady Lions (14-12, 9-6 MSC) Lynnlee Brown made the most of the spotlight with her first career hit coming in the bottom of the second inning where she smashed a two-out home run to the roof of the Chalmers Clubhouse to knot the game 1-1.
Over the next two innings the Tigers (11-20, 2-10 MSC) put runners 60 feet away on third base, but the Lady Lions were able to secure the final out unscathed. Grayson Mayo singled home what proved to be the winning run in the bottom of the fourth before Brown’s third hit of the day drove in some insurance in the bottom of the sixth.
Lynnlee Brown and Grayson Mayo teamed up for five of FHU’s six hits with Brown connecting for three hits.
Kylee Brown was dominant in the circle by striking out six GC batters without surrendering a walk.
