CCHS Eagles Baseball advances to state tournament

After nine years, the Chestser County High School Eagles Baseball team has sealed their place at the state tournament this year. Last year, they came close to making it to state but ended their season during sectionals.
Last Wednesday/Thursday, they made it over that final hurdle by winning the series versus Lawson with scores of 7-1 and 9-3.
The Eagles racked up several runs during the sixth inning of the second game. Dean Estes hit a double that brought in two runners, and his brother Lane hit a homerun that scored two more runs, wiping the bases clean and winning sectionals.
Advancing past the sectional series this year was huge for the Eagles.
“The hard work. The seniors that we have and the core group that we have...it’s just sheer determination on their part. I get back, and I motivate, and they go out and take care of business.
“It’s hard. It’s a grind. The teams we have to play and what we have to do to get there....It’s an absolute grind to come out and win the district with the teams we have in the district, go to the region and win the region, come here for this two-out-of-three game series to get to go to Murfreesboro to get to go to the state tournament - it’s something all players dream of,” said Eagles Head Coach Mike Goff. “I’m just so thankful. This group of seniors is really special, especially because my son is on here, and this has been a dream of his ever since he was a little boy and went in 2016 as a little kid thinking ‘Dad, I’m going to be here one day,’ and to get that, that’s special to me.”
Coach Goff expressed how excited he is for the state tournament and how he believes his team can compete with the others.
“I’m excited about the next tournament. We can go down there and make a lot of noise I think.”
