Over the past couple weeks the Eagles have scrimmaged against the University School of Jackson and Jackson Central Merry to find what they need to work on before the season starts against Trinity Christian Academy at home on August 23.
The Eagles looked good against USJ on August 2 but seemed to struggle against JCM.
After the USJ scrimmage CCHS Football Head Coach Dewond Johnson said, “We just have to clean some stuff up. I thought we were really physical. Our quarterback (Ethan Burks) was accurate with the ball today. We took what they gave us. We did some really good stuff. I’m excited about the future.”
The postgame interview was different after the JCM scrimmage.
“I think we came out flat. I think we underestimated JCM. We are not allowed to have a low energy night on Friday night. We just have to work on it and get better,” Johnson said.
The Eagles will have their last playthrough before the real deal this Friday in the jamboree versus Adamsville that starts at 6:30 p.m. JCM and Bolivar will also compete in the jamboree.
