The Chester County Junior High Football team started their season with a huge victory over Decatur, 44-8, on last Thursday.
“Huge back and big lineman. (Decatur) always is a tough team, especially up front,” CCJHS Head Coach Chad Hanna said. “Kind of out sized us. Made some big plays, especially on defense. Had two returns on defense, a pick six by Iziah Armstrong and a strip for touchdown by JSean Austin for a touchdown, and almost had a third on an onside kick by Hunter Hurst to put us in good position for another score.”
After the game Hanna and the other coaches recognized Blake Haltom for his defensive efforts of 15 tackles, Armstrong for his offensive efforts of rushing 75 yards on three attempts with one touchdown and Austin for his three scores, two offensive and one defensive.
The CCJHS Football team has a bye week this week and will return to play on August 22 at home versus Hardin County.
The CCJHS Softball also started their season. They faced off against Ramer at home on Monday. Both teams scored two runs in the first inning and held each other until the fifth inning.
In the top of the fifth, with two outs, Ramer squeezed in another couple runs to take the lead 4-2 going into the bottom of the fifth with CCJHS hitting last. Unfortunately, the CCJHS Eaglettes could not respond causing them to lose 4-2.
Their next game is versus Scotts Hill at home on Thursday, August 15.
