Mr. Cecil Bill Murley, 95, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, at Southern Oaks Assisted Living in Henderson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel in Henderson.
The family received friends from noon until service time. Interment took place 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Memphis Memory Gardens in Memphis.
He was born on March 5, 1930, in Chester County, the son of the late Willie H. Murley and Sudie P. King Murley. A proud veteran, he served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On May 1, 1959, he married the love of his life, Alma Janette Hazelip. They shared 59 wonderful years together before her passing in 2018. He worked for Kimberly-Clark in Memphis for nearly 40 years, dedicating 39 and a half years of service before retiring. The couple made their home in Memphis for most of that time before moving to Henderson in 1991.
He was an avid bird hunter and a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and deep love for his family. His legacy of love, dedication, and service will be cherished by all who knew him.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis (Carol) Slone of Collierville, and Ronnie (Margaret) Slone of Munford; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard “Ricky” (Celia) Murley of Henderson; and one sister, Jane (Robert) Hays of Lexington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Mike Slone; one brother, Charles Murley; and three sisters, Mary Joyce Stewart, Faith Patterson and Fredie Smith.
