Chester County Eagles player Chad Barham was presented with his 1,000 Point Ball last Friday to mark his 1,000 point milestone which he earned a couple of weeks ago. Barham is a junior who still has his senior year left to rack up some more points in his high school career. The Chester County Eagles almost won all of their district games in the regular season, but were one point away-when they lost to Hardin County at Hardin County last Tuesday.
The game ended with a last second shot attempt for the Eagles after trying to hail mary the ball down court for a quick shot but failed as no one was able to posess the ball with the 1.2 seconds of time that was left.
That night, the Chester County girls were able to vanquish the Lady Tigers 44-10.
Unfortunately, when they played Lexington on Friday, they were unable to get the “W.”
It was all up to the last minute of play.
With 57 seconds left, the Eaglettes were down 47-43. Then, the Hardin County girls scored two more points with 43.9 seconds left making it a six point game. Eaglette Annabelle Lockridge kept the score close for a possible comeback after hitting a three-point shot from the corner with 31.1 seconds left, 49-46.
The Lexington Tigers were able to increase their score to 52 by the end of the game from the foul shots that Chester County had to force them to take.
That sealed the game at 52-46 with a Eaglettes loss.
The Chester County Boys game was close against Lexington as well, but unlike the Eaglettes, the Eagles were able to leave victorious 54-52.
The game was tied at 52, but Eagle Chad Barham made a shot with a man in his face for two points and the lead with just 2.5 seconds on the clock which was not enough time for Lexington.
On top of that, in a deep pass attempt to take another shot, Lexington threw the ball down court, but the ball was intercepted by Armaria Massengill and that sealed the Chester County victory, 54-52.
