Last Thursday, the Chester County Board of Education held their January meeting. The meeting began with the board recognizing Chester County High School’s Future Farmers of America club.
The organization, that now has around 80 members, has grown popular at the High School. Recent achievements of the club include: the purchase of a greenhouse, having four FFA members compete in the 4-H Livestock State competition, and having a successful mum sales fundraiser.
Chester County High School health teachers and their students now have an Anatomage Table that will allow students to have a better understanding of the human body. Functions that the table can do include showing different cross sections, having step-by-step instructions of diagnostic procedures, showing dissected organs, EKG simulation and much more.
CCBOE Resolutions from the Tennessee School Board Association was also accepted. These resolutions include: to support the use of benchmark scores for achievement and growth, to support a local education association to to make retention decisions, a resolution to support the removal of timelimits on state mandated tests, a resolution to support a waiver from summer school, supporting the use of incentives to encourage those considering going into education as a career field, requesting an amendment for an open enrollment notice and the final resolution being to use ACT or SAT in the place of the End-of-Course assessments.
It was also announced how Chester County Schools are in the midst of installing awnings at CCHS, Chester County Junior High, Chester County Middle School, East Chester and North Chester.
The Next School board meeting will be February 17 at Chester County Middle School.
