The Chester County Eagles knocked down their opponents in the Huntingdon Point Guard Coca-Cola Classic Christmas Tournament one-by-one to earn themselves three wins along with a championship plaque.
The tournament started with the Eagles getting a great win over Waverly, 70-53.
The next game was followed by an eight-point win over USJ in which they kept control of and won 57-49.
Though the championship game was won by the Eagles, was not as easy.”
The championship game was versus Greenfield, and the two teams stayed neck-and-neck through the entire game.
In the fourth quarter, with a two-point lead, the Eagles held the ball for three minutes as Greenfield let them which killed the clock down from six minutes to three minutes.
Unfortunately, after holding the ball, Greenfield was the team to take control with a three point shot making the score 51-50 with the Eagles down and 1:56 left in the game.
Then, after a foul, Greenfield made the score 52-50.
Chance Thompson then scored the three-point shot that would give the Eagles the lead, 53-52, with 37 seconds left.
Greenfield had two more shot attempts that failed before the game was called. The final score was 53-52.
The Chester County girls did well in the tournament as well, but after winning two games versus Greenfield and Riverside, they had to face a very tough opponent, Huntingdon, in which the Eaglettes lost 53-38. This was still a good game played by the Chester County girls though. Huntingdon's girls only have loss one game this year against McKenzie. Additionally, the Eaglettes had the smallest score margin compared to every other win Huntingdon has had so far.
In the game against Greenfield, the Eaglettes obtained a "W" after defeating Greenfield 42-37.
Then, in game two, they controlled the game against Riverside and won by 16, 51-35.
Come out to Chester County High School tomorrow, Friday, January 6, to see CCHS face-off against Jackson Central-Merry again with the hope to defeat the Cougars again like they did December 20.
