During the Hub Classic Tournament at Liberty Tech High School last week, the Chester County Eaglettes showed up ready to play and the results speak for themselves.
Going into the tournament the Eaglettes knew Crockett County was in the tournament, so there was a good chance they would see them in the championship game and they did.
First the Eaglettes had to get past their other opponents, Liberty Tech and TCA, defeating them 64-38 and 31-18, respectively.
Next was the Eaglettes versus Lady Cavaliers Hub Class Championship game.
During the last month, a great rivalry developed between the Lady Cavaliers and Eaglettes.
On December 1, Crockett beat the Eaglettes first by two, 48-46. Then the Eaglettes responded in their next duel on the court December 21 and defeated Crockett by three, 60-57. This gave them the better team if you counted net score. This third game was the game that broke the tie and the CCHS girls came out on top by five, 42-37.
The Eaglettes were in the lead the majority of the game and the Lady Cavaliers kept trying to make a comeback, but failed to do so from the Eaglettes’ defense.
When the buzzer sounded, the Eaglettes fans went wild.
The Chester County fans were hoping to see another Hub Class Championship title come home with the Eagles having made it to their championship as well, but they lost to North Side 53-51 in a close game making them the tournament runner-up team.
Earlier in the tournament, the CCHS boys defeated Memphis Central 58-56 and defeated Liberty 66-62.
