The Chester County Fire Department Station 1 responded to a piece of equipment on fire inside the Chester County Solid Waste recycling center on Tuesday, July 9. Firefighters arrived to find a skid steer burning in the center of the building. The fire was contained by the solid waste employees and the building’s sprinkler system until further firefighter crew arrived. The Chester County firefighters were able to extinguish any further threats and the remaining hotspots on the machine. There were no injuries reported and no major damage to the building.
