The City of Henderson Board of Mayor and Aldermen will meet today, Thursday, June 11, in the Council Chamber of Henderson City Hall.
In addition to any delegations and other business, the Board will discuss a number of subjects, including the 2026-2027 City Budget and Tax Rate ordinance, including a public hearing on the proposed budget and tax rate and final reading consideration of passage of the ordinance. The tax rate is to remain the same at $0.6859 per $100 of assessed value.
The Board is also set to discuss applicants to replace Utility Director Darryl Green who will be retiring at the end of September. The selected applicant will be asked to begin working with UT Green on or about July 6 and work with him until his retirement.
Other items on the agenda under consideration include the following:
• Final reading of an ordinance to increase Water and Sewer Rates by 5%, effective July 1, 2026
• Final reading of an ordinance amending Sections 4-222 and 4-223 of the Municipal Code pertaining to employee vacation and sick leave policies
• A resolution approving the 2026-2027 Operations and Capital expenditure budgets for the Water/Sewer/Fund and the Natural Gas Fund
• Action amending the 2025-2026 (Current Year) Budget to account for ongoing Grant Projects and other line-item overruns
• Approval of improvements to the Utility Collection Office Area of City Hall
• Approval of a contract for the fireworks display as part of the America 250 Celebration on June 27. The display will be funded through a state TN250 grant
• A resolution authorizing an application to participate in the Tennessee Downtowns Program which is for a downtown revitalization education program
• Review quotes received on a UPS Battery Backup System for the traffic signal at the US Highway 45 and West Main Street intersection
• Purchase of 1-inch and ¾-inch water meters with AMR for inventory
• Approval of a contract for gas line installation on a per unit basis
