Greetings from the City! This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! No matter what life brings us, we always have something to be glad about. Do not worry about what we do not have but be happy for what we do have. While you are reading this article, stop and take a moment to pray for the families that are homeless, sleeping under bridges or on sidewalks, those who have no food, the thousands of U.S. Troops that are away from their families, the mom and dad that do not know where their child/children are, the mom and/or the dad who may have lost their child/children or loved one in some type of shooting or stabbing, all of the thousands of families that have lost a loved one because of some type of sickness or disease and the elderly person who has to choose which one to buy - food or their medicines. You may not have had to go through that type of pain, but there are so many of us that have gone through some type of pain, and you may be one of them.
The reason I said that is because I saw a lady that did not have a enough to pay for the items she was purchasing for her family at the store. She was telling the cashiers to put this back and explaining why she was running short. I looked at the cashier and told her to run it with my items. The lady was so happy! There also was an elderly couple trying to decide how to pay for their medicine. They were trying to decide if they should pay for a half a month so both could get their prescriptions or if one would go without for a month. Think about it!
On July 4, the U.S.A will celebrate 250 years. The 250-year anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s growth, from early settlements and revolutionary struggles to modern achievements in culture, science and governance. It emphasizes the contributions of all Americans over two and a half centuries and invites citizens to consider the future of the country. Never find yourself too busy just to talk with someone on the side of the street or in your community; it does not matter what ethnic group we are! So what can we do? Keep praying and trusting on the Lord! He will never leave us or forget about us!
I hope the fathers had a wonderful Father’s Day! Love your dad while he is above the ground! Once he is gone to be with the Lord, you will only have the great memories.
The annual Juneteenth celebration hosted by Oasis Community Development Corporation was held June 20 at the Chester County soccer field, historically known as Vincent High School. The event started with a big giveaway for children up to 17 years old. There was free food and music. It was an honor to see County Mayor Barry Hutcherson and wife and City Mayor Terry Bell and wife there. Others were out of town, and some just did not attend. The committee would like to thank everyone who came out to support the event! You were phenomenal! It was a wonderful event held in the community of Lucyville. We will have it again next year. It will be bigger and better for 2027. Mark your calendars! Thanks to President Biden for making Juneteenth a Federal Holiday.

On the prayer list this week: Continue to pray for those that are in the hospitals, sick in their homes, for our children, teachers and families and the men and women that are serving our country. Remember to pray for our United States of America. Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
