Hello to everyone! It is me again, giving God the praise to be here with you one more week. First things first, thank you, Lord, for another day because this is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! I hope you had a great week and a safe Fourth of July as we celebrated the 250th birthday for America. Before I continue, I would like to let you know we will be taking some time off, and I will not have anything in the paper next week.
Now, my husband and I did not go anywhere for the Fourth. We just stayed at home and watched the fireworks on the television, and on the Fifth of July, we grilled out and celebrated our daughter, LaWanna’s, birthday. We had a wonderful time!
The American Legion Davidson-Haltom Post 157 hosted a Veteran’s Breakfast Fundraiser from 7-10 a.m. Saturday, July 4, at the Senior Center. The funds raised will support scholarships for Chester County students to attend the week-long Boy’s State Convention held annually at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville. The funds will also sustain veteran activities on Memorial Day, Flag Day, Veterans Day and more. Commander Chris Dunbar did an excellent job on the pancakes, and he is a great commander!
If you would like to be a part of the American Legion, the meeting is at 6:30 p.m. every third Thursday at the Senior Center. So, with that being said, Chester County American Legion Veterans would like to say, “Thank you!” to everyone who came out to the Breakfast Fundraiser.
The BIG Back to School Bash is from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Chester County Junior High School. If your child needs school supplies, a backpack, or school uniform, the place to be for Chester County students is at CCJHS. Hope to see you there.
Do not forget that Chester County Early Voting will be July 17 through Aug. 1, and Aug. 6 is Election Day. Go vote! Your vote does count!
Our condolences go to the Burton family. Mr. Willie Lee will be missed. I remember Mr. Willie walking down the street of Lucyville with that BIG smile on his face! Always such a free hearted, kind, loving man. He will be missed but not forgotten! The community is praying for the family!
Very special Happy Birthday wishes from a very special lady, Mrs. Gritie Arnold, to her family. Let’s start with a very special man in her life, her son Mr. Tobias Arnold on July 24; her two granddaughters, Sidney Arnold on July 21 and Brittany Johnson on July 10; and one great-granddaughter Lydia Arnold on July 29. Wait! I am not finished with the Arnold family yet. There is one more left. Mrs. Gritie, you are such a loving, sweet person. Thank you for your love and kindness through the years! The city is wishing you a very happy birthday on July 19; this lovely lady will be 89 years young. Thank you, Ms. Gritie, for all you have done in our community. You are a trail blazer for us, and we love you! The City also would like to wish all of your family a happy birthday, and we pray the Lord will bless all of you with many more birthdays on this earth!
On the prayer list this week are the families that have lost a loved one, our first responders, our service men and women, our teachers and, last but not least, all of our children. Oh, yes! Let me not forget the U.S.A.! We need much prayer!
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call or text me at 608-6132 and leave a message. HAVE A GREAT WEEK
