Hello, everyone! It is a blessing to be with you this week! This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! It has been a while since we have been together and for good reason. My family and I finally took a long overdue vacation! We had a wonderful time visiting Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We explored St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix and Water Island, and every place was beautiful. Can you believe I even went jet skiing with LaWanna? While we were making a figure eight, our jet ski flipped over right in the middle of the ocean! Thank God there were no sharks around! It was my first time jet skiing, and despite getting tossed into the water, it was so much fun. I would definitely do it again. The food was delicious, and best of all, our family enjoyed spending quality time together.
Well, August is almost here! What does that mean? For the children and teachers of Chester County, summer vacation is coming to an end. Children, no more sleeping in! Soon the school buses will be arriving early at your bus stop while many parents will be driving their children to school. Whatever your mode of transportation may be, please be safe, stay alert and watch out for one another.
To our principals, teachers, secretaries, teacher assistants, grandparents, bus drivers, bus maintenance staff, cafeteria workers, custodians and all other school personnel, the City of Henderson wants you to know how much we appreciate you. Thank you for choosing a career dedicated to educating our children, feeding them, transporting them safely and caring for them each day. It takes special people to do what you do, and we are truly grateful for your service.
Let us pray for our 2026–27 school year. Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts as we prepare for the new academic year of 2026–27. Lord, we ask for Your divine protection over every student, teacher, administrator and staff member involved in education. Shield our schools from harm and guide every step taken within their walls. Grant safety in every classroom, hallway, bus route and playground. Cover our students with Your peace and let no weapon formed against them prosper. We pray for obedient hearts, respectful attitudes, a willingness to learn and a desire to grow in wisdom and character. Let there be kindness, unity, and respect between students. Let there be understanding and encouragement between students and teachers. Let there be support and collaboration among teachers and clear communication, shared vision and harmony between teachers and administrators. Lord, we pray for increased student attendance so every child has the opportunity to receive the education they deserve. Strengthen every person who serves within our schools – bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, counselors, teacher assistants, office staff and all others. Bless their work and remind them that they are valued. Above all, Father, we lift up the families of our students. Bless them with joy, peace, prosperity and love. Strengthen every home and provide for every need spiritually, emotionally and financially. May Your presence dwell in every household connected to our schools. We commit this school year to You. Go before us, walk beside us and surround us with Your grace and protection. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
On the prayer list, please continue to pray for our dear friends, Mrs. Joeann Cawthon and Ms. Amie Croom. Keep these two wonderful ladies in your prayers. The City of Henderson loves you both!
On the birthday list: Happy Birthday to Sandy Day on July 29! We pray that the Lord blesses you with many more happy and healthy years.
