Greetings! I am glad to be with you for another week. It is only by the grace of our Lord and Saviour. For this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it! I am so glad you have taken some time to read this column and others as well. I want you to know I appreciate your purchasing and reading our hometown news!
Last week, I read in the paper where Chester County generated $8.2 million in visitor spending in 2025. That is a blessing! Thank you, Blake Hopper and the staff at the Henderson/Chester County Chamber of Commerce, for doing such a noteworthy job for our community!
Do not forget that the Henderson/Chester County Chamber of Commerce kicks off the 48th Annual Chester County BBQ Festival Sept. 25 and 26. I know it will be a great event. Hope to see you there! Also, our BIG Freed-Hardeman University Associates Rummage Sale will be on Sept. 23-26 at the National Guard Armory, 759 E Main St. Henderson. This sale is better than the “BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL” at Kmart for those who can remember.
National Voter Registration Day was Sept. 15. Each year in the United States, millions of eligible voters find themselves unable to vote because of easily prevented issues like missing a registration deadline, forgetting to update their registration after a name change or moving or simply because they are not sure how to register. National Voter Registration Day was created in 2012 to help address such issues by serving as a nationwide nonpartisan rallying point to promote voter registration and help eligible voters across the country get #VoteReady to participate in our shared democracy. Nov. 3 is voting day for State and Federal General Election. If you are not registered to vote or you may need to update your voting information, Oct. 5 is the last day to register or to make any changes. If you are 18 years old or older, go to your local Election Office, 133 East Main Street, Henderson TN or call 731-989-4039 for more information.
On the birthday list this week: some of my dear friends from Southwest HRA Head Start, Pearl Shourd and Yakina McClellan, both on 9/19. If you know these individuals, wish them a Happy Birthday as well. The City of Henderson prays that the Lord will bless you with many more healthy years!
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: With our God nothing is ever worthless, and hope can light the way to treasures we never imagined we could find in our hard times.
On the prayer list this week: everyone you know. Pray for our loved ones that are in the hospitals, for the ones that are sick in their homes, for our children, teachers and families, for the men and women that are serving our country and for the incarcerated.
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 608-6132 and leave your message. HAVE A GREAT WEEK LOVE YOU!
